You must have a more reasonable wife than I as I am looking at adding a decent condition VFR750F 1995 to my small collection of bikes and my wife is very unhappy.

Look, its like getting rich in America, you have to do it in the dark, so with that being said, try buying your new bike when she is oot of town on a business trip. Also it helps to have an insulator between you and your purchase. In my case, my father bought my basket case viffer for me, so the wife could say shit, but she really did not have a leg to stand on. Bear in mind that I was looking for a parts bike/spare engine for many years. When this one came by for the price it was, I had to jump on it. I heard the whole "are you going to fix it and fiip it deal." When I told her I was keeping it, there was some friction, but F-it! You gota have a back-bone and stand for something, and my religion is "Viffer."

And besides just from an economic stand point, when all is said and done with labour and parts etc, how much do you stand to gain? If its not kewel $1000 I am not motivated! I will get this bike going and it will be 100% reliable, its a low mileage unit, it just won't be a beauty queen in the near future, but a perfect Miami/city bike as its a little fuggly and a toughie.

Cheers, don't let the wife get to you. Last new/new bike I bought was in 1993, since then its been the used band wagon. She really has no right to complain as I have two garages. Nuff Sed

I have a 400 and a 500, a tatty 750 plus this one which is a keeper. The tatty 750 will now be sold. I will then have a good 400 and 750, plus the 500 which I'm working on. That'll do as my collection for now...until that bargain RC30 comes up on eBay ;-)

OK...latest updates to the 750...new Avon tyres, chain and sprockets, oil/filter, air filter, plugs, coolant and brake pads.

Rear brake bled OK, front brakes not playing nicely at all. Tried a vacuum pump, still no joy. Ordered braided lines and master cylinder repair kit to do full overhaul.

Bike runs like a charm :)

I have just bought one myself, a 1989, build date 5/89. It was meant to go to UK but diverted to NZ and sold new here in November 1989. I have just picked it up after a 500 mile round trip and I still need to unload it from the wife's horse float. What choices of tyres did you look at? image.jpg

Nice! I went for Avons based on reviews and availability. Michelin pilot roads seem to be in vogue at the moment.

Managed to get some pressure on the front brake before a 50 mile blast this morning. New lines and mc should be fitted this week.

Also due to get the 400 back from the meanders this week.
