Well the new beast has been going well until last nights commute home, filled up at the servo with the usual BP ultimate (98 octane) as it was almost empty (fuel bar only just started flashing though so not that empty?) then 50 meters down the road she cut out and stopped dead!!

I thought it might have been electrics as the battery seems to be on its last legs and the clock reset I noticed (hopefully not RR issue?) but once roadside assistance arrived we still couldn't fire it up with a battery pack...

Roadside delivered her safely home so will strip her down to fault find over the weekend, my initial thoughts are:

    fuel blockage maybe?
    bad fuel maybe?
    electrical?

The symptoms are basically turns over fine but not a hint of ignition at all, and after turning over for a fair bit no petrol smell at all.....

Any thoughts from more experienced VFR home mechanics before I attempt to diagnose tomorrow?

    Cheers
    Benni

BWeiss, is that the noise it makes when the ignition is turned on? If so yeah it sounds the same as it always does.

Another simple idea: The kickstand cut off switch? It has been known to cause people fits trying to diagnose similar issues.

kinda along the same line as drewl mentioned, is the bike in neutral while attempting to start. Sometimes the clutch switch can cause some problems with starting in gear.

OK so she is back on the road after some work over the weekend checking the easy things first (thanks for some suggestions) with no luck finally drained tank, checked spark, tried a splash of clean fuel from the lawnmower can (4 stroke) and after some turning over away she goes. I'm guessing bad fuel but maybe removing/draining the tank cleared some blockage issue....to be honest not 100% sure at this stage and have half a jerry can of fuel which seems OK by sight/smell.....

Anyway just happy at this stage its going again...

    Cheers
