Went and looked at a 1995 VFR with 54K on the clock with a private seller. Body was in good shape and no obvious leaks or other issues with the engine and fork. Test ride seemed fine other than a really soft front brake lever. (brakes functioned fine) Will need some TLC to include a good scrub down, chain and maybe sprockets and new tires. What are most folks running for driveline parts for these and which online retailers have a good selection of VFR stuff? Will the Carb need to be tuned if I add after market exhaust? My main ride is a GL1800 so this will be a good summer project for my son and I. Thanks for any input.

Nice bike by the sounds of it, brakes sound like they could use some SS lines and a good bleed and fluid same for the rear while you're at it, oh yea do the clutch bleed too. Tires? LOL that's a troubled subject, just go with what you like and can afford. Depending on riding style will send you one way or another, hard to go wrong with the major brands my take Pirelli wins. Carbs that's a tough call, first off, see how it runs, big deal here is making sure all is clean, then from that run some really good fuel in it Chevron with techorine works great. Then go enjoy a ride, depending on how she runs will tell you if it's time to take it to the shop or not. Honda dealers that are in the know here are a credible part of this bike. they are getting to old for the new generations to know much when it comes to carbs. I will say these carbs aren't as bad as folks make em out to be, trick is clean. Might replace some fuel lines though and check the vacuum port plugs they're known to dry and crack. if at the shop might as well have em do a valve clearance check , most after the 16k check never needed touched again, but since I don't know the history, might play it safe and go for it. only other item that can bite is the RR issue. pretty straight forward fix, (search here in vfrw land) just something to be aware of. As far as who to go too for say chain sprockets, I used an RK and a D&D, I preferd the RK, goggle is your friend, sprockets, I like OEM. Now for parts thats getting a bit of a job. ebay. could be your friend but parts are getting harder to come by new. Hope that helps, you have IMO the best of the VFRs, enjoy.
