A while ago I considered selling my 98 and possibly going to a Ninja 1K or perhaps the 2014 VFR800. Looking ahead...there may be changes at work that may affect me and buying something new was not responsible. I decided to fix up my bike. After I added up the cost of parts...I ran out and bought another VFR800 with fewer miles on the clock and in nice condition. Got $1000 for my ol' gal.

I feel stupid not noticing that a previous owner delinked the brakes. I really like the linked brakes. I guess it would cost a fortune to relink them...eh? The bike is at the dealer and I did ask them for a quote but haven't heard back.

Probably ridiculous money from the dealer. I suspect it would be rather affordable with eBay parts and a little DIY

I took it straight there for the safety check and sundry service. Needless to say I didn't have any of the panels off. My guess is that most people that delink actually remove the "unnecessary" parts...right? I had hoped that maybe the slave master cylinder and everything is still there. The dealer is a very good friend of my step-brother so I'll get some kind of a break on that. I don't disagree that it is likely expensive from a dealer.

Such a variety of creative ways that people delink that it would be hard to say without looking. But the parts rarely fail and can't be in high demand on the used market.

While perusing ebay a few times, I've had seen a few linked set ups for sale. Mostly the hard lines and the PCV units, don't remember what they were selling for but I recall them being reasonable.

Meh...I had considered that. But it's a 16 hour round trip.

I got the bike certified and turns out, the brakes are linked back to front but not front to back. For now I'll adjust to it.

I've got a bucket full of linked brake parts but unfortunately they're off my 2007.

So waht parts would you need? I have the mother lode of stock brake parts wasting away under my work bench. I did a full brake delink to RC51 calipers and boat load of other stuff.

    Photos would be good.

I haven't had the body off of it. Not sure what I'd need. I'm not comfortable with farting around with this system and just got soaked by the dealer that did the safety check. I will definitely keep you in mind when I do figure out what's going on. :smile-new:
