I'll admit I'm new to this kind of thing, and meeting friends I haven't made yet scares the crap out of me, but what the heck. I wanna go ride that most excellent state of Washington, particularly the northwest corner. Just wondering if there are any VFR types out there that we can meet up with and drop off along the way. I'm thinkin' starting at Port Angeles, working south thru Hoquaim, east toward Mount Rainier, then north thru the Cascades eat of Mt Baker into Canada. Planning at least one maybe two overnighters camping, motel, jail, whatever. I might even bring some fellow canucks along, even if they don't ride the mighty VFR.

    Ideas?

Hey man, theres a couple of us here in Olympia. Can't speak for them but I'd be willing to meet in PA and ride back here. That'd be a good ride for me and as I used to live in Quinault I know the roads are decent out that way.

Sounds like fun! It would be great to meet some more VFR riders, and since I haven't had the chance to ride some of the places you mentioned that would be even better! As soon as it gets closer to the time frame your looking at let me know, I will pass this on to my other VFR friends

I am interested depending on timing. Being a family man getting away can sometimes be a stretch but ya never know. Depending on where you are stoping I might be able to meet up somewhere. I am in Vancouver BC. I will keep an eye on the plans.

Anytime you want to meet in Port Angeles and do a day ride to Neah Bay, let me know. Neah Bay so far is my favorite ride in Washington. I'm guessing about a hour and a half for both of us to the ferry terminal, and the ride itself takes about four hours total.

But I do want to ride Vancouver Island this year, so maybe you can help me out on mapping my ride, Me and the wife did a four day weekend up there about six weeks ago and I couldn't help but think what it would be like if I had the VFR. Here is where we stayed

Oh that be the road everyone dreams about riding from other states, the one that winds its way through the back side of Mt.St.Helens..

That #25 sure looks good to me. From were I live it sounds like a 2-3 day trip but depending on the time of year might be interested.
P.S. That gen 4 of yours sure looks nice.

From my experience the only bad motorcycle road on Vancouver Island is the Island Highway. Good for moving a long way fast but like most freeways pretty damn boring... Snooooooor. In summer though there tends to be a lot of tourist traffic especially on the southern part of the island. Not too bad in the north. But beautiful country.

I think you're talking about the inland Island hi-way from Duncan to Campbell River. And yes it is mind-numbing boring, meant to get you from A to B quick. If the coast route (Hwy 19A) wasn't so full of blue-hairs going 10 km under the speed limit with the left turn signal on for an hour, that would be a great road. That aside, the rest of the island has some great routes. Just gotta find 'em.

We're gonna have a good time this riding season. Let's enjoy it!

OK, it's getting closer to the date of the trip, just gotta set the date! Looks more like end of June now. Hoping to hit the Port Angeles ferry in the late afternoon, and night-camp somewhere nearby. Then heading south into CALIFORNIA and highway 36. Then swing it back up north and eventually home the following Monday. Talk about saddle sore; my butt hurts already!

Would love to meet some VFR guys along the way. Dates TBA.

You sure do your homework, Hwy 36 is the holy grail of roads in CA, Hwy 3 on the way to 36 is also great. Had a buddy who just did a solo run down there, he had a blast and still talks about it, check his thread out...

Cool just keep us/me in formed. Have it planned but haven't nailed down a date due in part to sketchy weather and all, but was doing a counterclockwise ride on what is called the 101 loop, could possible meet up in PA then ride on around down to Aberdeen before you head south? or you could just keep heading to Olympia then hit up St. Helens the following day?
or you could go to Astoria which would put you in the area of a lot of great roads, one of them being #53

Yah, the backside of Mt St Helen's is part of the plan, and I'm gonna lobby for the 101 loop too!
