Sorry to ask & you may call me stoopid. I just got these plugs for my 5th gen & can I just go & install them as is or do I need a thingy (cap?) that goes on top? Or I can use the cap on the old plug & screw it on the the new plug & go install?

Match whatever you had before and yes you can reuse the cap thingy. The plugs should have come with it but it doesn't wear out.

I use needle nose to tighten mine on. They tend to loosen easily.

Best practice is to always lube plug threads lightly, using motor oil, anti-seize, or bearing grease.

It depends on the plug wire boot. Some are meant to be on the bare threaded shaft, others need nipples. Lol

They are dimensionally the same minus the missing plug terminal.

Just re-use your old ones if so equipped.

I called NGK and the plugs that I bought; CR9EHIX9 are definitely the wrong plugs for my bike, as they have thread the entire length, whereas the IMR9B9H, the specified plugs have thread that is only 12mm, vs 19mm and the guy I spoke with said that the extra thread length of the CR can get covered in carbon and strip out your spark plug threads in the heads. This has not happened to me, but I only have about 10K on them. Soo, yeah. I'm going to change them.
