I got tired of the anemic factory horn and took a chance on an inexpensive Hella horn.

It's much much louder and bolted up easily.

    12 bucks shipped on eBay.
It's 335 Hz and was an oem horn on certain Mercedes (see application list).

It's galvanized metal so it's not going to rust.

To mount it I used the strip of metal it came with and with another nut and bolt, bolted it to the honda metal strip.

Wiring was just plug n play although maybe some here can tell me if I really ought to have used a relay for some reason??

And the wires can be reversed on these types of horns I believe. Much like a flashlight it doesn't matter which end is positive and which is negative.

The first image shows me holding up the honda factory horn next to the new hella for size comparison.

Car horns even from a junkyard are 12 volts and most of the time "plug and play" Most are plated or painted for weathering.

Google has sound bites of dozens of horn sounds.

The louder the better IMO. Loud pipes may save lives as some claim but a loud horn will save your ass.

The ultimate horn would be one that is at the sound level of a Diesel-Electric Locomotive that sounds like "The Roadrunner".

Similiar- I think this video captures it more.
It does have that road runner sound to it:)
What I like is that it's louder and more "significant" sounding than the factory horn.

Just sitting still, the horn almost hurts your ears. At speed it's a non issue- I think it's called the Doppler effect.

Mine came in the mail yesterday, installed it this morning before my ride. Car tries to pull out in front on me and I blasted her. She got the message loud and clear. If you ever wanted to upgrade your horn here is your chance. It is as easy as undo 2 wires and remove a bolt. My installation on my Blackbird took about 15 minutes.

Go for it.. The ease of changing up to a louder horn kind of makes the old "loud pipes save lives" thing sorta weak and expensive short of a hacksaw job on a Harley. Woke up a dude who no more saw me today that Monica Lewinsky saw any thing above Clinton's belt buckle.

That's pretty much how I saw it. Quick install while I debate Stebel bucks. Glad I did. I'm satisfied.

That seems like its going to be really loud for the rider in that spot.
And I believe the ABS bikes use that space for a control module.
Do some checking on reliability. Pretty sure the Stebel is regarded as more reliable.
