Was tightening the oil drain plug on my 1986 VFR and set it to 27 ft lbs.. It kept turning and turning but no clickie. I was nervous, so I backed it out, reset the wrench and tried again. Same non-committal no click. Could the crush washer cause this? It is a Craftsman 3/8 inch micro clicker with very little use. I used my un calibrated wrist again like it did before I had a torque wrench. Any one else experience this?

I have had issues with the reliability-accuracy of clicker torque wrenches. Before I use mine I check it by tightening up a random bolt with my non-clicker torque wrench and seeing if the clicker gives me the same value. If it does then I'll trust the clicker to tighten up a bunch of bolts to that value. Also, 27 #feet seems high for a drain plug...

Try setting the torque wrench to the lowest setting (say, 10ft lbs) and see if it clicks.

Oil drain bolt is only supposed to be torqued to 22ft/lb
