Thank you for looking at my thread! I have a 1985 VF700F that I'm restoring and it runs great everything works except the rear shock. I've asked my local dealer and from them it's OVER $1000. Now I've never had a shock wear out before but this seems a lil steep. Is there an alternative to the factory one? I've looked in salvage yards and on Ebay with no luck with finding a good one. Has anyone made something else fit? Or rebuilt the stock one. Showa is the brand of the shock and the corp says they can not help me and I must go through the dealer(the Honda Dealer). Parts guy says there is not a rebuild kit for it. I have a pretty nice bike here but a "Hard Tail Honda"?? Thanks for your help!!!! Hip
I am interested in this answer as well. I want a better one. I did find this: shock link 100 bucks plus shipping. No idea of the mileage.
Take a look at this link http://vfrworld.com/forums/first-second-generation-1983-1989/8488-1rst-gen-vf700-mods.html Also one of the members (JamieDaugherty) on this forum offers a service to modify any other honda shock (CBR,later VFR) to work on the older VF.
