I have an 07 VFR800 that the previous owner moved the forks within the triple clamps in order to adjust the bike height for him. I am wanting to set the forks within the triple clamps back to factory specs. Can someone take a measurement please from the top of the upper triple clamp to the top of the fork tube so I can put them back where they go?

I would really appreciate this - thank you.

Usually on the vfr, because the rear shock sucks so bad, people drop the front to get better turn in. Certainly possible it was a ride height issue, just sayin FYI. My last VFR, I dropped the front but this one I raised the rear an inch for handling.

Did the previous owner drop the triple tree down on fork? Because there's not much room to move the actual handlebars up.....

nevermind, I see that's what you said they did. I'm not mistaken it should be 44 millimeters from the top nut to the top of the triple tree.

There was a recent thread concerning this. Try a search.

Ok, I found the measurment in my VFR manual. 1.6" So TNR you were right there. This IS the height of my forks. Aparently he didnt move them like he said he did?

Tinkerinwstuff....Your comment certainly has merit...My last VFR was an 02 and I swear the front end sat lower and I also swear it turned into corners a little better. Making sense now.

Something to note though, this bike is an 07 ABS model, so my plan now is this: before I drop the forks within the triples I am going to play with the pre load a bit and wait until my crap Metzler tires come off and Michelin Pilot road 4 tires go on the bike. After that if it dont turn like my 02 did I will drop the front a bit.

    Thanks fellas!

My head bearings rattle constantly. Sometimes its hard to figure which way is up. The only fix is 4 or 5 bottles of Beck's Dark. :eek-new:
