Hi all, I performed the mods i.e. removed snorkle, pair valve and flapper, did anyone find there vfr to not perform as well as it did before the mods in terms of accleration? loads of noise but just not very fast, would this be the snorkle? cheers
It would be the flapper valve you took out. The snorkle is just a noise canceler. But that flap valve is like variable intake length systems in cars. Removing the pair system forces your bike to run leaner than it was designed for. This is because the pair system adds air to the exhaust to burn any excess fuel. Problem is that the o2 sensors are before the catalytic converter and after the point of enter for the pair system. So they read this excess air and the ecu adds more fuel. The fix: Make your exhaust more breathable (gut or replace the cans) then get a power commander 3 and its your choice if you tune with or without the o2 sensors. Its more work to use the o2 sensors but It's a better tune. But any online tuning file will be with the o2 sensors disconnected. In that case, buy the o2 sensor delete kit. It comes as a plug that just works, more expensive than the diy solution but less knowledge needed. The o2 sensor bungs are a standard bolt and thread. 3/4" unc. Your choice to remove and plug or just tie the sensor leads up and tape over the connectors. Welcome to modding and hope you find your solution.
Not really interested in more power as I know kind of pointless, so would you suggest putting the vaccum tube back on the airbox? would solve my issue?
If you didnt plug them off then your vacuum leak can cause all kinds of false issues. Make sure the vacuum system is sealed. Putting the flap valve back allows the bike to control airspeed into the bike, this keeps the air moving fast into the bike but allows the restriction to be removed when the bike is going fast and working hard. The pc3 isnt just for power adding, its mostly used to correct issse from modding and to help with the flat spots and throttle snappyness. Your bike, Your choice. Just trying to point you towards your goal.
