Good day ppl from vfr world. After many year of hunting a good deal on a vfr I got one in december and been loving it. Its a 05" model and got 35000KL on the clock, cant say how it was maintenance. Overall the bike was in a exhalent condition.2weeks ago a started having the electric problem with the ground wire from the harness. Fixed that and bike was running beautiful again. However 3 days ago i was feeling a bit naughty and planed on making the road back to home from work a less boring. Wen I got onto the high way and open her up I note this that 1,2,3 gear no problems she revs all the way to the limit. starting form 4gear only manage to get to 10rpm ,5gear only 9rpm and 6 gear only 8rpm hitting a max speed of only 180 kpm in al 3 gears. At 8rpm it feels like she is being limited ,I got home and started troubleshooting (air filter, Plugs, Fuel )and all seems fine. The only thing that I did not chck was the TPS and the ESU.(run out of time)

Has any one ells out their run into a problem like this or can any one point me into the right direction to start looking

You get to do the, what undisclosed mods do I have game!

Since the bike runs fin in low gears, skip tps sensor, look for hoses off etc. I have heard that some places have limited bikes to comply with local regulations, I havent confirmed this so you may need to wait until someone with the same bike comes on to incriminate themselves.

Since you had a grounding issue, go back and check for other wiring issues. Could be something simple as a repaired connection can not flow the current needed at high revs and power demands.

    Happy hunting!

Sorry did not add that before the problem started she was pulling thru all the gears limiting rev no prop getting her up to 270kph. At the moment below 180kph she running like a dream with no signs of any problems. Lucky we got a public holiday tomorrow will be spending the night checking the wiring and hoses

What a day.So i started this morning stripping her down checking everything as i go. Fuel line was all clean and nice and strait no pinching.Vacuum hoses was all in good order. So i started tracing the wiring. I notes when i remove the ground wire for the hot fix on the blue plug the relay was not buzzing and the lights was dead bike wont start. started tracing the wire down to the connection junction for all the ground wires in the harness close to the battery ,open it up and found that it as well go hot and melted. manage to get it open and repair all the connections. putt it back together and the relay is buzzing again when i remove the hot wire. put her back together and take her out for a test drive same problem still losing power from 4 gear up.

Rare but does happen, map sensor and iat sensor failures. Since these look like resistances to the ecu they may not throw a code.
O2 sensors are next, but that is a long shot.

These are long shots and either test by trial or take it to a dealer that can read live data from the bike. You may have to do a data log to capture the event.
