I live in VA and we have great gun laws here . I open carry and conceal carry on rides . VA you don't need a permit to open carry but you do for conceal carry which I have one . Even if your from out of state . anyone else carry when on a ride ?
Also the cops here in VA are very professional even if they pull you over for speeding or whatever when carry . They don't even ask to look at it .

Easy, kj. He is agreeing with you and saying that in Texas, carrying is de rigeur.

The way I read it, it's just a friendly, tongue-in-cheek comment from divevfr. I wouldn't think anything of it.

Love to but in the UK I'd get sent to jail :) Only allowed to transport them to/from a range or area where permission to shoot. Not even allowed to show them to trusted friends ! I think I'll move to VA :)

I'm a ham radio operator I have friends on your side of the pond .
They tell me the same thing your saying . I love it here in VA .
Last year I was in a convenience store in line and the local sheriff came in seen me open carry and stoped
And thank me for carrying and said if more law abiding citizens would carry there would be a lot less crime

Yeah i see that the FBI's figures fro states that have allowed carry of various types (usually concealed) that used to ban it have seen a significant reduction in all kinds of violent crime. Go figure :) If the UK do-gooders get their way, then all guns will be banned here period.

Funny thing is the BSAC did a deer cull survey a few years ago & 1/4million deer are shot in the UK each year & the populations are exploding, they now kill 6-10 motorists a year, which is more than illegal gun deaths each year !

So banning guns would kill MORE people than the crooks do already & the crooks would still kill the same number as normal, so total deaths would increase ! But according to them banning guns saves lives. The UK does not currently record injuries caused by wild animals, so if 6-10 die each year I'm sure hundreds are injured or suffer financial losses due to vehicle damage etc.

We now even have armed exterminators working in our cities & towns, shooting the smaller imported deer like Muntjac & Chinese Water Deer (the only wild population outside China !) due to the damage they cause to peoples gardens ! it's a strange world that most people here don't know exists.

VA sounds good for gun owners though.

    be safe.

Unfortunately, its exceptionally tough in NJ to get a CWP. Most of them are issued to ex LEO or other "important" type of people.

All claims cited, predominately with data from the FBI. I would consider all this factual information before carrying a gun, especially on American motorways where it is clear they are more of a liability than anything. Whoever cited the FBI claiming an increase in carriers reduced violent crime has it precisely backwards, according to the FBI's website.

All stats on both sides of the line can be blurred by to favor whomever. The only thing that scares me about these stats is #9. Gun owners have 7.9 guns??? Frack I am behind and I need to catch up... I need 2.9 to be average.....any one know where I can get .9 tenths of a gun at....

Carry/dont carry...its a matter of choice. Do what you want. If I have my tank bag thats where it is. I try not to carry on me while I ride just in case I go down.

Well considering motherjones is an extremely liberal magazine and website, I would take any 'facts' they present with a grain of salt. I'll keep my 2nd amendment rights, thank you very much.

And in Canada we get along just fine without every other person carrying a firearm. Fewer homicides, too... but what do we know, eh?

In Az we can carry any way we like

I do not open carry on my bike for two reasons
    1. A afraid of losing it
    2. Pretty hard to get to weapon with gloves, jacket, etc

I have CCW in Ohio, when i carry on motorcycle i have a concealment shirt w/ under armpit pocket, i dont really feel comfortable with IWB on bike.

Myth #4: More good guys with guns can stop rampaging bad guys.
Fact-check: Mass shootings stopped by armed civilians in the past 30 years: 0

that's odd because there are multiple stories of civilians shooting bad guys with guns preventing death of innocent people. if the mass shooting occurred then you stopped the bad guy you didnt prevent the mass shooting, if you stopped the shooter before the mass shooting then there wasnt a mass shooting how would you say it would be one?
