You convinced me! :thumb: I was already on the fence about the mere $42 difference, but to be honest, either set (PR3 or PR4) would likely need replacing due to age before miles. I'm not riding nearly as much as I used to. In fact, I sold my '07 Yamaha FJR-1300 because I was no longer taking long trips, and I felt like it no longer made sense to hold onto that bike (and the associated monthly payment, which was $10 more per month than my car payment!).

At any rate, I'm looking forward to trying out the PR4's. Should be a world better than the old Dunlop tires I have on their now.

crxnug, did you ever figure out which tire you are going with for a rear tire replacement?

Yea if you dont ride with a passanger alot then just dont get the GT version. I think its worth it thats why I just went with the 4's but I wish I got the 190 the bike had a 190 on it before looked good. I got the 180 on it looks skinny haha. But I like the wider rear tire look :)

I just put on the PR4's, only 160 miles. $318 from Bike Bandit. Can't wait to see how they work. I just signed up for a class given by the local police riding instuctor. I figured I should have some good tires for that! 8 hours on May 24th. Can't wait. Should be fun and maybe I will learn something.

just changed the old dunlop tyres on my VFR800 for Pilot Road 4s (after some useful email traffic to Michelin in the UK, I thought I'd give them a try). It was raining like hell on the way to and from the garage. The way in on the old tyres was, er, mildly terrifying. On the way back, even before the PR4s were scrubbed in, the bike had so much more grip. Perhaps doesn't say much, any new design tyre is going to do better than 10-year old rubber, but so far very happy with them and lived up to Michelin's advertising that they are very good in the rain. The fitter at the garage - a keen racer - told me that at some uk competitions PR3s had been banned, since full wets were not allowed and PR3s were giving riders too much of an advantage in wet conditions!
