Hey all, I just purchased a 2013 VFR1200f DCT via a dealer I found on ebay, and they're shipping it next week. I've owned a 4th gen, 5th gen, and a 6th gen in the past, and I'm excited to pick up the 1200. I currently have a CTX700ND with the DCT, and I love the dual clutch, so I couldn't pass up the deal I found. I'll be doing some commuting, the occasional road trip through the twisties, and hopefully a track day or two. I've also owned a 919, Superhawk, Hawk GT, ZX7r, ZX9r, a few Buells, Triumph Thunderbird...way too many bikes!

I'll post some pics once it arrives, the black looks gorgeous in the photos. Looking forward to it!

I sure hope the bike is COD and not one of those smoking deals seen on Craigslist.

Not COD, but it's a dealership that's been around for a while, and a brand new bike on their showroom floor, so I took a chance. We'll see!

what bike? I see no bike.

Welcome to the forum. I'd like to see one of those 1200s in black in person. I like the blue and the red so I'm sure I'd like the black also.

Here's the CTX. It's pretty low powered, but for what it is it's a great motorcycle.

Just kidding mostly, For those kind of pesos, I figured an experienced guy would check first.

Those "deals" on CR are mostly cars. I have seen bikes with 25-30 pix and the headers and wheels alone are worth more than the asking price.

I've seen that kind of thing before too. I checked out the dealership's local feedback, as well as their ebay feedback, and they had nothing but positive comments from people who purchased their bikes from out of state. Nothing raised any red flags during the process, and the shipper has worked with them before, so I pulled the trigger. I'll take a photo of me with my pockets inside out if it doesn't show up. ;)

At least the scammers so far are not trying to sell $99.99 Ferrari's. ;) I am not one of those dudes that has to have a pic of everything like it was a rule.

Hope ya got a good deal on the bike they are, contrary to what was said by many who had never seen, sat on or ridden, great bikes..

When they first appeared with all the BS coming out what I thought was, this is a shitload of opinion that sounds like the harleydoods who were whining about when HD came out with the VRod. like some taboo was being broken.

I'd actually be interested in riding a DCT one day.
The old-school clutch still appeals to me but a comparison would only be fair at some point.

I remember when I actually hated ABS in my car because I could no longer control the 'slide' of the car on snowy days.......haha.

I really like the DCT, you can still shift whenever you like via the thumb paddles, but having the option not to is a real plus. Also, my left hand really thanks me when I'm in stop and go traffic. It's pretty cool to feel it rev matching and downshifting flawlessly as you brake for a stop. I read somewhere that the DCT on the CTX700 is actually the next gen version, so I'm hoping the VFR is just as smooth.

I agree with you 100% on the sliding in the snow. :-D

I'm a shifty sort but to see how far auto trannys for bikes have come, a few miles on one of those Honda 750 fours with the two speed tranny is a great comparison model.

You won't regret the purchase. I picked up a 2012 F model two weeks ago and could not be any more pleased with the bike. Great power, very stable and easy to ride fast.

I have a 2010 DCT that was purchased with 6,000 'dry' miles. It really was in mint condition when I bought it.

Absolutely love it coming from a 5th Gen. I did not find too big a difference apart from getting used to not having a clutch lever or foot shifter.

At low speeds if making a U turn, I am having to adjust and tell my mind I am not going to drop the bike. I have been practising using the rear brake to get used to it.

I love how the character of the bike changes once it revs past 6,000 RPM or in Sport Mode.

I find the brakes to be the best I have ever experienced although I really don't want to put ABS to the test, I can feel when it's doing its job.

My bike averages 700 miles a week mixed road usage. Fuel economy for me seems to be around 43 MPG without being careful on the throttle at all. I fill up at around the 140 Mile mark and the fill up averages 15 Litres of fuel most of the time. I travel on motorways for about 500 of the 700 Miles each week and the remainder is city riding.

Both tyres were replaced by 7,500 Miles as were the front brake pads. Servicing costs at a Honda main dealer have not been too bad and the next service is not due for another 7,500 Miles.

Welcome aboard and enjoy your new ride.

I sat on a '12 and made the obligatory vroom-vroom noises and was very impressed with it.

TUSL2C thanks for mentioning the U turn concern.
    I have that too.

someone mentioned dragging the rear brake, that helps,
it also seems to help if one doesn't slow while making the U turn, and have it in AT mode, bike will downshift and pull to the inside, not nice if caught off guard.

I find it easier to clik to MT, and also, if possible to no leave myself with a real tight U turn of leaving.
I worked at the dealer level for some years, rode a ton of different bikes, and can pitch a Gold Wing into a U turn, without problem.

but like you, without the clutch, its awkward.
I took all the play out the my throttle, and tightened up the right switch (it rocked back and forth a small amount) that also helped.
