Hi guys, New to VFRworld, just had my Blade replaced with a VFR through insurance, (due to an accident/ write-off)

Just wanted something comfortable for work duties yet still quick, different from the crowd and they sound awesome

    Sorry for the ramblings........

    The viffer looks great BAZMATE....

I`m looking at doing the same trick to my `10 Viffer, fitting either an R-55 Yoshimura off a GSX-R 600/750, or a custom left mount system like the almighty RC30/45 bikes of the past.

First of all, thank you very much for this post !
You have helped me keep my money in my pocket. I been riding for 40 years or so, owned many bikes, and I have modded the engine in all of them to some extent. Based on your and other posts in this excellent forum I will likely leave the intake/exhaust system on my bike stock. My only decision point right now is whether it's worth it to get a Power Commander to tweak the low speed mixture. The bike feels rather lean at part throttle/low rpm, it tends to lurch and surge when I am puttering along in traffic; I have not yet decided if this small annoyance would make the expense worthwhile. I guess now I will have more money to spend on tires and gear.

    helloes from Greece

I was thinking about doing exactly the same as Bazmate on my '06 VFR but I only have one drawback:

Is installing a short single side exhaust going to do any "harm" to how the bike works now? I really dont care if I get a benefit out of it, and I dont care about the cost either,
What I DO care about is that it will continue to work as perfect as it does now...

I ve done close to 60.000 klm on this bike and enjoyed every single one of them, but now I got out of a loooong relationship and thinking of making a few "sportie" changes to the bike. Already got a full back WP suspension :)

    About exhausts.

LOOK at all of these NEW square exhausts they are making. See what I mean?
We know the exhaust comes out of a ROUND exhaust port, now don't we?

    It is mostly personal .
    Looks ,sound, performance.

It is about air INTO the engine and exhaust OUT of the engine.
If you change the exhaust but DO NOT change the intake you will not need to rejet.
If you change the exhaust AND the intake you WILL need to rejet.

Modified intake and modified exhaust will use more gas.

But if you only ride 3 months of the year and only some days of those 3 months, does it matter?

If the designers at Two Brothers Racing are to be trusted, going to a single exhaust actually improves performance by adding slightly more torque over the twin can layout. Not to mention weight savings...

I believe the rule of thumb on 2 cans vs. one is that one can provides a bit more power in mid-range while 2 cans produce more power at top end.

look at any aftermarket muffle with out the silencer in. tell me do you really think adding another straight through can and a y split (which in itself adds a trivial amount of resistance) is going to add any flow.
only when dealing with a stock muffler packed full of baffles and sound deadening material, will adding another can actually increase flow, which could possibly increase hp.

I`ve ended up fitting a titanium side pipe setup on my 2010 vfr800, and it hasn`t effected it negatively in any way.

I have lost approx 17kg (standard system and all the accessaries that hold it on)
    by fitting the new setup.

I can`t say its increased the power in any way, but it does go a hell of a lot better just because of the decreased weight.

I hope this picture comes up, I haven`t posted pictures before!!!

I love the look and sound of my Two Bros, but I have to keep the hot side clean so it matches the false side.

What kind of pipe did you use? I want to do the same type of thing but see if I can find a 2bros application from another bike that might work.

Where did you get that exhaust? I would like to do pretty much the same thing as well.

That's one of the nicest things about the 6th gen is the double undertail exhaust in my opinion! I find the delkevic 8 inch mini slipon exhaust makes me new pipes on vfr 015.jpg 003.jpg happy everytime I twist the throttle!!!!
