I cut my stock seat down 1 inch, didn't really help much, so I am trying the sargent world seat out,. My back is killing me all ready from that stock junk seat!:grumpy:

I don't think the stock seat can give you a bad back, even though it isn't that good.
    How tall are you?
I went the custom made route, and I'm pretty happy.
I cut it down 20mm and shaved the sides, plus brought the rear forward around 50mm, I can now still slide around side to side, but stopped sliding back and forth. I also brought down the rear by 20mm and covered it with a grippy vynil to stop my wife sliding around.
I'm 165cm tall and it made a world of difference.

The stock seat is just poorly made, I don't think anything will make it work, I am hitting the tank too much and the seat isn't flat enough and just doesn't have the right padding, the seat frame itself is garbage. The sargent looks it flat in the right places and the frame looks stronger and the padding is special. I think its worth a try, . My old r6 seat was actually worst then the VFR, but both were cheaply made-bad frames, bad padding-Garbage. The VFR has a good size platform for a good seat-no excuse-for such a cheap seat:smash::boink: 2001 VFR has a different seat by the way!

As Tink always says, go to you local cycle shop and find out who they use to redo their seats. You seldom see a used bike in a deal with a ragged out seat, unless the rest of the bike is a basket case. Any good seat guy should absolutely be able to transform your stock seat into a custom molded ass grabber. And the cost will be about the same as a Sargent or Corbin. If they say they can't custom make your seat, find a new guy.

Well my idea to cut down the stock seat had me sitting on the tank way too much-good for getting my feet on the ground, but it wasn't good for my butt. Sense the sargent world seems to be the favorite seat for this model, I just said screw it try one out. Its all ready being shipped out. I got a black one with no red strip. From the pics the seat looked like it had a better frame and really great foam. In any case maybe two seats is better than one? I won't:chaingun: know till I try it! Oh Snowflak is in heat-more Himayalan kittens! Ceasar will be busy tonight.:tyrannosaurus:

there is a good marketing campaign for corbin, female butts, semi-clad, they would sell saddles like hot-cakes! Call them "butt-cake" seats? I don't know, but bitterpill could definately get some pictures going for them.

Sargent made a HUGE difference for me, but everybody's keister is a tad unique. :ass: Might want to check your riding position to see what you might be able to change/alter to make your riding stance more comfortable. Something does not seem right if it is killing your back. What is your height? Stock bar risers? Do you grip the tank with your knees?

Well it looks like the sargent seat has fixed the seat problem-you have such a small area to sit on ,if it ant perfect then it doesn't work. I think I need the heli bars too, but I need to get me M5 tires on first. I think a scotts damper would be nice too. I am slowly getting the bugs out!:blabla::laser::kc10:

    Im only 5'4 & 3/4ins
Rather than lowering the bike and altering the handling, i would rather try and take some off the seat

I had a Corbin on my 07 but it just didn't work for my ass. Back to stock and I'm good for 12 hr+ days, funny eh.

I had a Corbin on my 3rd gen and loved it. Go figure.

By the way the cowl doesn't fit on the sargent world seat, no matter what anyone says, it will just pop open a 1/2, might not fall off. But what;s the point in having a screwed up looking cowl? I am going to just remove it and put in closet! 2 pounds less weight that does nothing. I have found, I can ride with the stock height, a bit of a pain but its better that way with the bad roads we have- or perhaps a piece of ass:stripper: might lower the bike!:smokin:

My seat cowl stays on my Sergent seat fine. YOu are doing something wrong. Mind you, i did use a lot of gentle heat and with tender loving care, bend the forward tabs down just a faction of an inch. It does fit tight, but does not pull away from its tabs.

You are most likely right, but I don't think I even like to cowl-it really does nothing but adds 2 pounds. An I think it Looks better naked maybe. I think I will try it with it off and what do you do If someone want a ride?:boink:

PUBLIC TRANSIT! I think the cover weighs all of about 8 oz. But ya. Either you fancy it or you don't. In the 8 years I've had this bike, I have had a passenger twice and just took it off and left at home.
