Well , here in Canada, everybody is dumb and we are getting ripped of on everything. Car parts, tires, electronics, computer parts, tools . cars, ....etc EVERYTHING cost more than in the US. And shipping companies are well aware of that so they can charge way too much and still be under the price of the same items here in Canada. And there is more. When shipped with other than USPS, Ups for example, they pay the brokerage fees (lets say 15$) and at the door when the order comes, they ask for 50$ cause they ```saved me some trouble``....... I can refuse to pay these fees and pay the Duty myself, but then they take the order to their warehouse and wait until you pay. (BTW there is no way to pay by phone before the order comes....all of that is done in a shady way where everybody takes a cut on your deal, the government and the shipping company)

So now you have to go to Montreal in a Duty office to pay the fees, then go take your order in UPS warehouse..... So you loose 4 hours and 15$ of gas. (making it not worth it) In addition, you don t know how much youre gonna save cause UPS hide the amount they paid(the 15$in that example). Another ripoff.....

And some are gonna think that the canadian dollar is lower than the american but the price differences are too big for that to make sense......and when the dollar was at 98cents US, NO and i mean NOOO prices went down on anything......the companies only raised their profit.

And because all Canadians or almost are scared to order on the internet because its ``not safe``, merchants here do not really feel the competition so prices stays hi.

So that s how it is here in naive country.

Yves speaks the truth except when he states that he is a naïve French Canadian. They don't exist in my experience!

I like may others have resorted to setting up a US shipping address to send and receive goods. Once in a while I drive down there and clean the box out so I can import/ declare and pay as required myself. This is the only way to eliminate all the middle men who are picking your pockets while hiding behind a shield of impenetrable bureaucratic marde (shit). The example of this shield are many which is surprising in a society that claims to have little or no corruption.

In a pinch and only when the item is small will I resort to shipping direct to my Canadian address. In these cases I use USPS and Canada Post. Often times it arrives with no extra charges but occasionally I get dinged. It seems random like they roll the dice and some pay while others don't. :bull_head:

Those of us who live relatively close to the border can set up a mail address in the USA where you pay something like $2.00 per pick up when it comes. Then if you have to pay duties when you cross the border, then so be it. I have found that unless you are bringing back a couple hndred dollars worth of goods, CBSA does not bother you. Except on tobacco and booze.

Oh I forgot to show you how I lifted my rear wheel without a stand! Actually, this was necessary because I was changing the shock and had to pick up the rear while the wheel stayed on the ground.
