I have a few questions about these wheels. I recently picked up a like new wheel and the previous owner did not know if it was off a F4 or F4i and I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any visual clues on the wheels casting that might tell which generation it's from. Does anyone know if either F4 or F4i wheel will work on a 5th gen? I think I would have to buy the appropriate wheel spacers to get it to work? I had read that the F4i wheel is much lighter than both the stock VFR wheel and the F4. I was going to weigh it tonight with the wheel on and see. If anyone has any insight on this then I would really appreciate it.
I wouldn't see why not I was running Super Hawk forks with the 5th gen wheel and using the stock spacer's. I would check to see what the rotor size's are between both bike's I believe the 5th gens and 220mm's but I would verify that first.
Do a quick search on ebay to see what the wheels look like. First, the F4 (1999-2000)(#44650-MBW-670) and the F4i's (2001-2006) (#44650-MBW A10 or A12) are two completely different front wheels so you need to find out which one you have. Notice how the rotor pattern on the hub is different. Not sure about the weight issue, most people just want something different looking on their bike, even if it is a stock rim from another year or bike. Sorry, but I don't know on the fitment question. After a little digging I found this..... http://consciousvibes.com/vehicles/HondaCBR600.html Its now clear that the F4 wheel and the VFR 800 wheel are almost exactly the same. The F4i hub and the diameter of the rotor bolt circle are larger than the F4 wheel. I just wish I knew the weight difference between the two.
