Just joined the site after getting a 99. Have been looking for a while and found on in my price range, needs a little work but a very solid base to start with. The VFR will join my 1989 NT650GT Hawk that has been restored. 89 & 99 both red, both single sided swing arms, both V motors = Super Stoked!!!

Got the seat recovered, new brake pads all the way around, fixed the turn signal switch, rear fender, corrected the wiring for the rectifier, changed the oil and filter, ordered some of the missing cowling hardware, new tires on order and gave it a good bath. got about 150 miles on it and it runs great. Idle is a bit odd, anywhere between 1,000 to 2,000 rpm not sure why. It doesn't vary just one time i stop its at 1,000 next time 2,000. I have a factory manual on order also and the rear drive dampers, looks like green dust on the rear wheel and if these are anything like the Hawk I'm guessing the cush drive rubbers are failing. Very happy with it so far!!

Congrats on the purchase, looks like it's in good shape. You might try a can of seafoam to clean out the injectors and settle the idle, and/or it may need a starter valve sync. What's the mileage? I've put 92K on mine and it just keeps on going.

Just over 32,000 miles. I'll read up when I get the manual and go from there on the idle issues.
