    Hey Gang,
A lot of us occasionally froth at the mouth over the thought of Carbon Fibre wheels for our beasts. So my question is - if these were really available for purchase, --- How many of you would really pony up for a set? Cost would be kinda nasty - around $2200 a set or maybe a tick or two more.

I want them, m'be some of you do too.

Whoa - nada? I was digging into this as a design/manufacture project and if I could get 15 sets, that would make it realistic to pull off.

    Keep the rubber side down,

hmm, that's pretty tempting. how much say would we have in the styling? could we get something pretty stylish or would it be just whatever? Man, that a tough one... Would I really want to spend that kind of dough on wheels... I just might. How much weight would we lose? How much would handling change? Same sizes of tires I'm assuming... Do carbon fiber wheels scratch easily? How sturdy are they? Is there anything special about caring for them? Do they warp? Do they last just as long?

I dont know about style - with CF its function first. I know though that these wheel will be beautiful and the ultament bling, none finer. If you want hard core info check out--- http://www.blackstonetek.com/ - Yeah, I'm collaborating with Blackstone - I'd be spending some healthy bucks and would like to a least attempt to come out better than even. Discussions for now are - is it even possible? Given the offset of the 4 lug mounts, it may be a tougher design- kinda a discussion among us engineers thing. If this gets done, it will be comparable to any Ducati wheel on the market.

On your Q's - lets see, handling would be quicker - 600 like. Weight loss - just guessing 7-8 pounds, all that is mosty at the rims. The bike will feel like you suddenly got a 10 hp boost outta nowhere. Tire sizes the same.
Check the Blackstone site for your other stuff. I expect these to last a long time.

I should add that pricing is just speculation at this point. Should be in the ballpark though.

This thing kinda died from the lack of interest - In digging more into the project - I'd have to sell these for $3150. Looks like $2200 was dreaming. I'm not making any bucks on this either, I just wanted to make it reality.

Bad enough I gotta dodge cages, I don't wanna have to watch for every little pot-hole and bump.

Not trying to "piss on your parade" mello dude but for that amount of money, I'd want to buy from a dealer/manufacturer with a warranty and a track record.

I can appreciate that, and yeah this is not no risk, but I these are still Blackstone Tek, the best in the business. Check above link if you want. It's not like I am building these in my garage.

This is all moot anyway but I can dream.

So how many people did you get versus how many did you need?

"Got" = 0 --- "Need" = at least 16 to 20. Blackstone would need to pay for the tooling to put it together. It's a major expense to come up with a new wheel. A onezie cost would be crazy. We had some discussions and left it lie.

I think carbon fiber wheels would be quite cool, however seems price prohibitive.Back to reality, does anyone make a high perf. light weight
wheel in aluminum. If so my concerns would be cost, durability and weight savings.

that's where that link on VFRD goes. it looks very interesting if they fit. $1640 is not too high either for a custom wheel set... It's very tempting...

They show the same pics of wheels for different bikes. I looked up a set for an R6 and it had the same pic as for the VFR800. wierd.

Does anyone know what options (if any) we have for a front wheel?
