I tried to do a search here but the only posts I found either just said to " remove the bolt and take wheel off " or were about the 6th Gens which don't have the exhaust pipe in the way.

I am trying to remove my rear wheel to go get a new tire put on, but I can not figure out how the hell to move the exhaust pipe out of the way short of bending the midpipe and/or cats in half.

This is from my 1998-2001 Honda Service Manual (Page 14-3) on Rear Wheel removal:

** I don't know why the picture is showing up like that, it's normal in PhotoBucket **

It only says to " Remove the muffler bracket bolt/nut, then move the muffler outward. "

Are these the directions for the 98-99's that don't have cats and might move outward easily ? Because my problem is that the rear passenger peg bracket is in the way of simply moving the muffler outward, and if I try pushing the muffler down to clear the passenger peg bracket it barley clears it and I already hear the pipe metal creaking. And with the position of the cat it does not look like it was meant to move at all without damage being done.

I just don't see how I can move the muffler outward without seriously bending the pipes or screwing something up.

    Any idea's ???

Nevermind, I feel dumb as sh*t.......loosen exhaust clamp bolts and just rotate the muffler. Would have been nice though if the service manual made note of that. lol

Glad you figured it out. The SSA is one of the coolest things about the VFR. I love how easy it is to change the rear tire.

6th Gen = VTEC & NO SWEET SOUND OF GEAR DRIVEN CAMS....... NO THANK YOU

I would rather take 3 minutes longer to remove the 3 bolts on the 5th Gen . :tongue2: :peep:

Actually though, if the price does not come down significantly on used 2014 Deluxe models in a few years then a 6th Gen will be the next VFR in my garage, hopefully a RWB 07 model.

With hi-mount exhaust all you have to do is put the center stand down and remove the 4 wheel bolts :eagerness:

Don't feel bad. I sat on the side of the road tearing my bike apart last summer for 30 minutes because I couldn't figure out why it would run/turn over. Turns out I had accidently hit the kill switch~

Just so that I'm clear, moving an exhaust and removing four bolts is easier than one axle bolt? :)
