So me and my buddy stoped at the Ducati dealer yesterday
looking at buying a new Ducati . however the guys at the dealer are fantastic .
its more like a cafe . they share info everything . the Honda VFR is very respect it by them .
we had the opportunity to speak to one of the Ducati master mechanics which we were told he is one of five only master mechanics in the United States . and he holds the the VFR in high regards.
even set up an appointment with him on the 28th of this month to properly tuned my suspension on my VFR .
some special scales the used to do this with. while I'm sitting on the bike . tuned just for me . and also told me that if there's any necessary parts that should be changed out to make it better he will tell me .
this master mechanic also races for Ducati . And yes I seen his bikes that he runs
. the point is not that Ducati is better than Honda but with the Ducati guys you get a lot more personal attention then you do at a Honda shop . And he told me if I don't feel more confidence in the turns after he tunes my bike then there will be no charge . me and my buddy are both having our bikes done the same day . my buddy has a 1999 VFR 800
And my 2007 VFR 800 and he is charging us total $100 . if we don't like the work it will be free of charge .
    . Cant wait .

Your Ducati dealer sounds almost unheard of. Mine also sells Honda's, Yamaha & Hardly Davidsons (no I didn't misspell). Their more interested in getting you on what ever bike & will tell you any bullshit to do it. They apply to same strategy to those that are looking for their 1st bike, to those that have been riding for years. In other words that treat us like uninformed & ignorant dick's.
Most dealerships never learn, & probably wonder why they don't get much returning buyers (unless their the only dealer in town!). You never see the same salesman (except for maybe the main guy) from week to week.
Same BS as the last guy they replaced. If I found a dealer like the one you have found, boy he would have had a shitload of business from me.
By the way, have you seen the new Ducati Monster 1200 & 1200S?

May have to kill the missus for the insurance money.

I think that is an excellent choice. Low seat height, reasonably light, plenty of power to keep up on the highway and it's sexy too! I've been trying to convince one of the girls at work they her next bike should be a Monster. She bought a new Ninja 250 two years ago and has grown out of it. It seems like most people get bored of the 250s pretty fast if they have any natural ability. They also get frustrated trying to find people to ride with because they need to stick to the secondary (slower) roads.

Best of luck with the new bike!

This place is great . Even when I set appointment it was not at the counter I had to walk back to the master mechanics office and he took my appointment . And not on a PC It was written in his book and no joke there was Italian music being played in his office . lol Well I'm looking at getting the Diavel for myself Bad ass bike . 0-60 in 2.6sec but yes my wife is getting the Monster 696 and for $9,500 a lot on bike for the money .
And from what I seen Ducati holds its value . My buddy is looking at the 899 but he went on a test ride and its just for the track . You would not want to ride it a lot on the street . So he is looking at the same as me Diavel . And the seat on this bike is crazy nice . Ride it all day . the English couple I was talking about was great . She rides a Monster 696 and she races it at our track here and it was funny her hubby was on a BMW that day and he even said he likes her Monster 696 better then his BMW . lol
he just got a new 899 that day . So I love my 2007 VFR 800 I would not give it up even for a Ducati however I want a Ducati . My VFR is like family .
My wife calls My VFR my 450lb red head girlfriend . lol I tell her I like fast red heads . lol But guys if you are ever in VA go to this dealer you will spend all day there . It's great . This sat they are having a open house with a Italian chef cooking fresh Italian food . Oh one of you guys at your dealer never has the same salesman this place has 1 salesman all the time . same guy .

Something to keep in mind is there is no such thing as a $100 "suspension tune". About all they can do is fiddle with the limited adjustments on your bike. Those are not the problem with the VFR - the springs and valving are. You won't really get any results without addressing the source of the issues!

I got that done on mine, just need to get it finished up with the minor adjustments you mentioned.

Have to lower the front end 2-5mm, the renthal bar I put on puts too much weight on the rear of the bike. Not too happy on gravel/dirt roads.

Jamie .. Did you read the post ?
Not trying to be a ass but . 1st off it's $50 Then
Who said there are only limited adjustments on my bike ? Who said my suspension is stock ? Not me .
My suspension is not stock and its lowered . For this reason the sag / rebound + needs to be set . Traction and the front wheel staying down is the name of the game . I'm not a wheelie guy . If I wanted to ride on 1 wheel I would have bought a unicycle . Just like I'm having a special tune with dyno so I can have less power in 1st so I can launch harder closer to full throttle . Then 2nd on full power .
As for the stock suspension on the VFR there is nothing wrong with it If you ride the bike like it was intended for S/T
I'm not taking it racing maybe to the drag strip here an there . And that's only for the fact I'm at home on the drag strip over 17 years cars and bikes . And we have one of the best drag strips which is below sea level , Every things faster below sea level .
