Both low beams not working, High beams still good.... Not sure why

I just removed the cowl so I could do a fork rebuild. When I reinstalled the cowl I attached low beam connectors, high beam connectors and the air temperature connector. Now both low beams don;t turn on. Both high beams and turn signal lights all work fine. Seems weird that the high will turn with the Hi/Lo switch is moved to HI but no lights when switch is moved to LO. I guess it's possible I blew both low lamps while working on the bike but seem unlikely. Before I go in a start checking both lo bulbs, I though I see if maybe it's something more obvious. Thanks for all your help.

 

Did you have a hard time getting the connector of the lamp? I cracked one lamp on my first try getting cowl off. Now I take it off every two weeks, trying to get my LED Headlights sorted out.

What year is your bike? 6 th gen with separate lo and hi lamps?

Try tapping Kill switch and Start switches, may be stuck, they kill lo beam while starting.

 

If the switches arent the cause, try the frame or the harness connectors. We really need to know the generation of the bike to be of more help as there is so many differences in the electrical. If its a 6th gen the year and whether or not its an abs model.

 

Upon further investigation, it looks like I damaged the filament on BOTH H4 low beam lamps when I was originally trying to remove the connectors. I guess I need to be more careful when yanking on the connectors. Thanks to all for their suggestions.

 

that is some awesome bad luck! I dont know if I would take the chance of riding yet, at least not until the third bad thing happens!

Good to know its nothing horrible, but still. How do you kill a bulb in a support in a socket let alone two of them?

 

Hey CB..recheck and make sure you haven't melted the low beam sockets.They have been know to run hot and melt the plastic , then the wires will short together.If this occurs it will also take out the low beam fuse.If you need sockets you can find them
at most any automotive store.This same problem happened to my 6th gen..enjoy..rc
