    Hey,

I have a 2001 VFR800. Wanted to know if there are any differences year to year in the 5 gen seat cowl. I am thinking to mount soft saddlebags and would rather just swap out the rear cowl when I tour instead of stressing about my stock seat cowl piece getting beat up.

Am looking at a 1998 and a 1999 seat cowl as candidates for this.

    Thanks
    Guy

Nope, Honda manual calls it a rear (seat) cowl.

That's a good idea if you are worried about your bags messing up the finish. Just get get a shitty replacement tail piece. Since mine developed a crack in the first hour of ownership I don't figure i can keep anything nice and so i don't worry about it. By the way, I travel with two big soft Chaise Harper bags , loaded for bear, and didn't have a problem with the tail finish.

Fairing or seat cowl, the only difference is color among the 5th gens.
