I can't get the exhaust of of my vf 500 . Im taking it off to blast it and ceramic coat it. The tail pipes with the canisters slid rite off. The front clamps and loose the flanges on head unbolted have the 2 bolts on the oil pan off. Loosens the rear clamps and had to pull shock to get rear flanges off.( got a new shock coming from Jamey d). I can't get the pipes apart to pull the head pipes and collector down. I have penetrating oil on everything and not much room in there to use heat on it. Any ideas?????

Take a picture? Kinda hard to visualize what you're talking about. All I know is I recently I pulled the collector pipe off my 86 VFR. Took me about 3 hours to remove it. Tried heat and penetrating oil, it took a 5lb dead blow and a huge socket extension acting as a punch placed on a strong weld on the collector to seperate everything.

I had the same problem. I ended up beating the collector box with a lump mallet. I had to hit the top of it incredibly hard to get it to shift. I was worried I was going to dent it and it did deform a little but with the force I was applying there was no other way of shifting it. I put a stout piece of wood down through the frame after removing the swingarm and hit the end of that. However you might get away without removing the swingarm.

I got it apart. Had to remove swingarm and I used a long piece of wood with a my 5 lb hammer. I have no center stand so my rear jack is useless with the swingarm off so I scrwed 2 eye bolts into my rafters and used a racheting tie down strap to each side of the rear frame to hold it up. Took a lot of hard hits to break it loose but it came apart. I left the front end up on my jack that grabs it under the forks.
