    Greetings!

I'm Tim from Ontario. I owned a '95 VFR from new for 10 yrs until I HAD to have a CBR1KRR in '05. That was nice, but really should have kept my baby. So now I have recently come back to VFR land with a couple '86 VFR750s: one for the street, and one to build up for vintage racing for 2015. I'm sure I'll be pestering the folks reading the 1st & 2nd Gen forums soon enough. I'm mid way through the CBR F2/F3 conversion right now. I'll try posting a photo or 2 here if I can make all the right mistakes.

Street bike with 88kms kms Rough around the edges, but it's mostly all there(maybe someone recognizes it? I'm the second owner in the past yr alone...it's been around according to the UVIP papers)

Racer-to-be with 34k kms This is how I got it, with a tank, and some rear plastics

    RaceVFR.jpg

I also have an '85 500 Interceptor that I rescued several yrs ago, and a few other projects and race bikes...

    Later,

    TimV

Welcome Tim!! I am from Ontario as well, but now live in Alabama. Great looking bikes you have there. An 86 VFR even looks good when it is half apart! I used to race at Shannonville from 89-92, great memories. I have an 86 VFR, but it is a 700 instead of a 750. I would love to get my hands on a 750. Canada got only 750's in 86, but the U.S. got mostly 700's, but you could get a 750 if you paid an extra teriff(trying to protect an ailing HD company).
I see it has been a tough winter up there this year, gives you a bit more time to get the bikes in the best shape possible for riding/racing. Good luck with them and if you hear of anyone selling an 86 VFR750, please feel free to message me. Can be a project bike or not. And believe me, I WILL come and get it!!

Welcome aboard. I will confess that I never took any notice of the whole VFR story before I bought mine, seeing a nice '80's model makes you realise what the fuss was about.

Agreed Bryan88! I've always admired this model from afar, but only recently(last 8 yrs or so)got into racing & owning vintage bikes. I haven't ridden an '86 yet, so hope my feelings don't change? :)

Indeed, I have watched that one since it hit Kijiji. And thank you for pointing it out though. From the specs, the 750 is putting out nearly 30 more horse power. Sorry to hear you had a bad get off, I hope you heal up better than new soon. I have yet to get out and play on Barber, I am really hoping I can this spring. Just on a track day kinda thing.
That is a long way to go to race for you!!! If you ever plan on coming here again, please let me know me know. Would be cool to meet up.

I can almost remember the day the 86 VFR hit the showrooms. It was, and to me, is, the most beautiful bike ever produced. I was a fan of racing before I got into it in 89. I remember watching guys like Steve Dick, Tommy Walther, John Ramsey, and Art "the dart" Robbins racing these machines back then. The sound was amazing, and still is to this day. Watching Reuben McMurter racing the 1st gen Interceptors at Shannonville was something else. I was a big fan of his for a long time. Robbins was the most gifted rider I ever saw at that track.

    30hp? Really?That seems like a lot!

Barber was fantastic. We hit the museum first, then Practice Thursday, and raced Sat&Sun. I have videos on youtube if you want to see them. I'm racing a custom framed CB350 twin. http://www.youtube.com/user/Redbeast840/videos I wont be racing this year, but hopefully 2015. Will let you know for sure.

I remember riding my 88 CBR600 down from Muskoka to watch the races at Shanonville. When you go there today it still looks just as run down as it did back then.

WTF. What have I done wrong that I warrant a BOLF from Scubalong? Welcome to the world. Canadians just take a bunch of shit and abuse here. For the life of me, I don't understand why.

OK...I guess I missed the joke.

    Anyway, thanks for the welcome.

I'll carry on and ask a question or thirty in the 2nd gen forum. Looking forward to getting advice on building up/modifying this racer.

Not to worry. Its just that Pliskin's elevator not only goes to the top floor, it keeps going.

    Just some friendly bantering.

All is good, Redbeast. Welcome aboard.

And as Randy said, just having some fun. We usually do this at Randy's expense, the problem is he doesn't seem to get it. Which starts the cycle all over again.
