I made an exhaust system some time ago using the stock pipes minus the mufflers. I loved this new exhaust, but it didn't look as good as the one I had made previously, using the larger mufflers from a laser set. It sounded great and worked well, but still needed something in the looks department.
This is what I came up with. Let me know what you think.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

You tell me what you think, I think it sounds better than stock. Stock is like a whisper, it only roars when Vtec kicks in and then it is still a quiet roar.
This thing will scare people, especially when running through the Vtec engagement. It is not quite obnoxious, but still loud and mean sounding. Here is a link to the soundfile.

I ran around town today with my exhuast completely off :) It was awersome, but a little on the loud side. I'm trying to find someone in Vegas who'll cut my cat off and mount a staight pipe in it's place with a removable baffle. I'd remove the stock cans and just run with no cans, no cat, and a straight pipe with a baffle, just like most Harley's.

the links to your pictures didn't work for me, but I'd love to see them. I'm still shopping around for ideas.

Huh? No joking, I really ran around with no exhuast. I did butcher the spelling of 'awesome' though... I'd edit it but it's funnier the way it is.

I have a date with Best Muffler here in Vegas this Sat. I'm going to see if they'll fab me something. I'm thinking I'll have the cat cut off and a single one-up pipe bent up under the seat, then I'll install a Harley baffle. Should do the trick... It probably won't look as good as yours, but I'm into the rat rod look anyways.

Do you have any baffles in there?

And where did you get that rear hugger?

Rear hugger is a NWS hugger, Fiberglass. They also have C/F and what they call ghost.
My mufflers have a very minimalist baffle, what it is, is an internal deflector that routes the exhaust through a short piece of inner pipe with a bunch of holes in it. You can get these mufflers from both Shadetreepowersports.com and from JCwhitney for around 35-40 bucks each. Then just modify the stock downpipe. The covers for the mufflers are R1 exhaust covers just flipped so the rear is now the front. I just had to make an extra bracket to hold them in place. Good luck with your exhaust mods. Post a pic or a link to a pic when you get done.

I have a Turbo City FPR on the bike now, but I also have a stock FPR and am going to try the stock one with a Dobeck Techlusion unit that I bought. It runs well for the most part with the Turbo City FPR, but I want a little more adjustability for fine tuning under all throttle conditions, instead of just an overall richening of the fuel delivery.

what is a turbo city fpr:confused: I have a power commander III. And just today i finished putting on the exhaust on the bike, it's the same mufflers that you have. They sound pretty darn good if I do say so myself:biggrin: . Much better than stock IMHO.
