    Hello all!

I apologize if I'm beating a dead battery thread here, but I have a rather emergent need for a new battery that won't break the bank. I've read many of the posts and have seen good comments re the walmart battery. The online part selector and book in the store only list batteries up to 2001. I have read that some 6th gen folks have matched up sizes /polarity etc. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a part number that has worked for them? There are a couple places I can buy online but looking to get my hands on it as quickly as possible (trying to troubleshoot my power problem). Thanks in advance for your help and for your patience with what I'm sure is a tired issue.

    Mitch

IMHO - on batteries you get what you pay for. Last cheapo battery I bought was from Auto Zone and in 18 months time it puked battery acid down the frame and swingarm, left acid trails on my expensive hugger. Need something to hold you down, fine, but something that will last is gonna cost some more.

Mello is right. Walmart only stocks batteries that need a lot of care. Spend 80$ and go to a bike shop. Polarity shouldnt concern you since only one size sport battery fits. Just make sure its a sealed or agm battery and your good.

I've been running a WalMart battery for 2+ years. Keep it on a tender, especially during the winter. Lasted a year longer so far than my last 2 Yuasas.

I've been getting AGM batteries out of California for under $40 They're sealed, works well for me, and it arrives in 3-4 days.

This is the one I ordered for my 5th Gen.

I like agm because they cant leak unless the whole battery melts down. The acid is suspended in fiber glass matt and this also makes the battery lighter because its not flooded.
I just checked with the local auto parts store and a new batt for my bike, agm type, is 55$ and they give me 10$ back when I bring the old one in.
