I wouldn't mind trying to use that gauge cluster on my 6th gen. Given how little has changed I would put money on it being a direct swap as far as the wiring harness is concerned.

Knowing honda it will have a different connector and the signal levels would be different. ;)

Now im interested in an updated ecu. The 6th gen ecu programming sucks, the engine starves waiting for the ecu to notice. If thats a direct swap, and I will be asking for ecu pinouts, then im going to try one.

15k $ ill find a new 6th gen for a quarter that price. Only reason I paid what I did for mine was simple. Just look at the tank and smile. That and I have bike 19 off the line.

I'm hoping they'll have one at Daytona. I suspect I will buy one.

If I can steal parts from this bike I won't have to change bikes for awhile.

    x1 front rad
    x1 gauge cluster
    x1 seat/subframe combo

If only they kept the under tail exhaust. Besides looking great it also didn't block the rear and showed off that single sided swing arm. One of my favorite things about the look of the 6th gen.

Even, as pointed out previously, at the expense of 25 extra lbs above center of gravity??

Sure. I'm doubt it would make much of a difference to your every day rider. I'm also sure it Honda could do it without adding that much weight.

Except that the haven't. Look at the weight difference between the 5th gen, 6th gen, and the new 800.

I've also weighed the parts when I put the 6gen tail on my 5th.

Undertail pipe may look cool, but it roasts your nuts. At least on my Ducati 848 Corse. I'll pass.

I'm with toe and tink. Not sure where the sticker-shock about the price is coming from. Price is in-line.

On the other pictures I saw, I liked it, but it seemed a little too much "vanilla"....aka....gixxer fever, or R1-itis.

    Cheers,

I just cant justify selling a 6th gen for it, i can take or leave the look and they haven't made any adjustments to the engine. I just wish they would have removed the vtec, mine was fun for the first couple of years, However after riding other bikes I longed for the constant surge of acceleration not the twitchy bang of the vtec. I still love my engine and my bike, i just think more people would have bought the bike with the lower hp 5th gen engine for a couple extra $$ off msrp.

can't wait to try the 2 bros carbon and its less than 4.7 pds when using just the one can, I am trying to strip some weight off. -maybe I should take the center stand off? The stock headers weigh a ton too-but its expensive to ditch those.-not high up weight. I am thinking of a lighter weight sprocket and chain kit.:bluesbros::helo:

I think I like the one piece radiator the best. I have never been too keen on Honda's split, sideways radiators.

I will definitely look into it when it hits the dealers. Price is about rite. Sure there are other bikes coming in a little cheaper but they aren't V4s or Hondas. I paid $12000 for my 13 Repsol 600RR & $13700 for my 13 Tuono but they can't give me what the VFR can. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

8k seemed like a lot when I signed for a new 96. Since then I've learned that Honda lost money on VFRs year after year just to have the best tech in the market. Not unlike Cadillac, the viffer often foreshadowed tech that would appear on other models in subsequent years. Fast forward almost 2 decades and the 4th generation is still the quintessential vfr. I like the 1200. Will probably own one some day, but till then, center gears and carbs are just fine over here. The 97 in my stable cost less than a similar year civic, but smokes 94 percent of the cages on the road at only a slightly higher cost to operate. Life really is good.

Dealerships here are selling brand new CBR600s for more than that, so I don't think 12,500 is a bad price at all. Think you guys should just keep looking in the used market if you don't like new prices.
