    Hi all!
My name is Ivan and I'm a 23 year old, action sport and motorsports fiend. I'm new to the forum. I currently reside in central Ohio after earning my Mechanical Engineering degree at OU. I've been racing dirt bikes since I was 5 and have spent the last year getting my feet wet with road riding on my 1990 CBR600F...aka the Hurricane. I named her Katrina. Too soon? :playful:
Additionally, I've been riding BMX Freestyle for about 7 years now. I've traveled across the country hitting skateparks and I compete in local contests as a sponsored rider at every chance.

The CBR was my Dad's old racer and I spent the better part of last summer building her up from the 2 (and a half) he had in pieces. This involved work on almost every component on the bike with the exception of the bottom end. It was a enriching experience and I was able to return to college with it and spend the semester touring the amazing routes around Athens including 78,328, 329, 550, 628, and the intense 555. It's a wonder I didn't die on the ancient, rotten race rubbers I was sporting...but god was it fun anyway!

This isn't the CBR forum...so what am I doing here!?

Well, I'm excited to say I will soon be the owner of a VFR of my own in the coming weeks! A couple of months ago I found a non-ABS 2007 VFR800 25th Anniversary Edition in VA on Craigslist. The bike has only 11,000 miles on it, includes bags, and is in great condition. Everything seems mechanically sound and well maintained. The bike has an upgraded Leo Vince Evo 2 carbon exhaust and rides on Michelin Road Pilot Sports. The only apparent blemishes are scratches on one saddle bag from getting blown over and slight damage to the rear taillight. Furthermore, it is still under warranty (transferable) until Oct. this fall.

    Here's a pic!

I did a lot of thinking about what kind of bike I wanted to transfer to after the sporty but somewhat relaxed riding position of the Hurricane (at least by today's sportbike standards). During travels to and from college and to other distant locations I found myself loading the CBR like a mule...full book bag, big tank bag, shallow crate bungied to the tail... But hey, ya do what you gotta do, right? I knew I wanted a bike with bags, not just for loaded commutes but to do some serious traveling this summer before I throw my carcass to the machine that is a full time engineering job. At the same time, I wanted something that was sporty enough for a young man like myself. I rode my Dad's ST1300 and it was AWESOME...but I wanted something a little more aggressive.

So my search began for the ultimate sport tourer...and after a million hours of Google searching and reading spec charts and reviews of a bunch of different bikes...I started falling in love with the VFR800. That led me here...to this database of knowledge, opinion, and tinkering that is VFRworld. I swear I've perused every post regarding impressions, upgrades, and mods on here. I'd like to thank you all for being a big part of my decision to purchase a VFR. At the price I'm getting it (which I will not reveal till title is in hand) I feel it is the best all around sport tourer for me at this point. I'm already anxious to do some tinkering of my own...

Thanks again for all the knowledge via this forum!
    STOKED!

Excellent intro! Too bad about your bike though. With all of that research you should have discovered that the 2007 Anniversary Edition is the least reliable and most despised of all the VFR's since it's inception. People just hate them!

Tell you what, we can swap even-steven so that your first experience with a VFR is a positive one!

Well, it was worth a shot. Can't blame a guy for trying, right?

In all seriousness, the 2007 Anniversary Edition is the only bike I would consider switching bikes out for currently. I have been a sucker for the RWB color scheme ever since I saw the Nighthawk RWB.

Welcome to the madness. The RWB's are the fastest of all the VFRs, no matter what anyone else may say.:triumphant:

Welcome to the crazies! Listen closely, and then take it all with a grain of salt. Except the ATGATT part. Listen closely to that part. Otherwise, it ain't pretty.

I'm sure I'll feel faster...but that might just be the jump from my post-vintage 600. :playful:

I too was totally enamoured my the RWB scheme the first time I saw it. Glad I was able to find one!

Absolutely nih! Maybe you could show me some good roads up your way sometime.
Also, if you ever come down for the AMA Superbike Weekend at Mid Ohio hit me up. I go almost every year.
