Hello all. I just got a new job and the pay is going to be really good (well for me anyway). It probably won't be until later this year, but I am thinking I am going to get a VFR1200 with DCT. I plan on using it mostly as a fun mile munching bike to get me to motorcycle races, home to Maine, and things like that.

I am thinking of going used, but what do I need to know? Don't bother with 2010s, or is any model year fine? Or should I just get a new one?

    Thank you,
    Richard

I'm just as excited to throw a leg over mine now as when I first brought it home. It's getting close to valve adjustment time which I hear is mucho peso's. IMHO look at something newer with low miles or a good deal post valves.

Actually I'm not looking at a specific one. How much should I be paying?

The question is too general to be addressed with specificity. Hit some of the "Bluebook" type sites and plug in what is asked for. The results are ballpark and reasonabley reliable if you don't fudge and try to outthink the software.

Try a couple of major search engines too. Plug in an operator beginning with, "for sale"

    The big factor is condition.

My local dealer has a 2010, bone stock, <5k miles, a little wear/tear, new tires; asking $9750.
