Hi all this is my first time posting so if i leave something out my apologies. I have a 87 vfr700. I was warming it up the other day when it dies and would not start. After some checking i found that I had no power at the killswitch. I then ran a jumper wire to the killswitch and it fire up with no problems. The owners manual says there is a fuse close to the handle bars but i am unable to find it. This fuse is in line for the power to the killswitch. The manual also says the most likely cause is a bad ignition switch but i would like to find the fuse and check it first. Any idea where this fuse is?

    Hi James

    Welcome to the MadHouse.:welcome:

Sorry I can't really help with the fuse location but I found this post which has some hazy circuit diagrams for the 700 which seems to show the ignition switch fuse is located in the main fuse box - http://www.bikersoracle.com/vfr/forum/showthread.php?t=120472

If you scroll down the forum home page you will find the various sub-forums including the specifications forum which has links to resources like service manuals which may be of interest.

When you get a chance please visit the introductions sub forum to tell us a bit about you and your VFR and say a proper hello to the rest of the forum. PS if you don't want people on here ragging on you - post up at least one photo of your VFR with your introduction post (click the icon two to the right of the envelope symbol and follow the prompts).

It is also a good idea to update your forum profile "my profile" at the top of the page to include your rough location city/state and the year/specs of your VFR. That way they will appear beside all your posts and if you have a problem people nearby may be willing to swing by and offer advice or assistance in exchange for some beer tokens:drink:.

    Take care

Switch contacts can corrode, causing a few simple problems, just as you have. Especially after long months no riding.
