After 2 years with my immaculate and beloved 2001 VFR800, I am moving on to another bike I have lusted after for years-an immaculate 2001 RC51 with tons of goodies. The RC is the one and only motorcycle that could replace my VFR. I wanted something a bit exotic,race-inspired,hard-edged,and it has to be a Honda! Wish I could keep both, but unfortunately it doesn't make sense at this time as I may be moving around. Not doing much sport touring any more,so it's time for the RC. I think the VFR is the BEST OVERALL motorcycle EVER!!!:frown:

I haven't even advertised the VFR yet,and getting all kinds of inquiries from people when they find out I'm getting a "new" bike. I'm not in a great rush to sell it. Just moving over to it's BROTHER!

Nice choice! I've always really liked those, just a bit too tight size wise/aggressive position . Still having Honda rumble, come back and tell us how you like it!

congrats? I guess. I actually considered one of those back when I first started riding the VFR before I realized it would kill me to sit on that RC seat all day.

 Are you crazy, keep them both !!!!!

    I own a few (RC51's & VFR's) as you can see, & I love me RC51's
The RC51 is a awsome bike that for sport touring can be a little rough (taking mine to Cali & Back to Utah a fey times with the stock seat & bars).

But I also race a RC51 & I have more confidence on it than I did with my 600 RR or the 1000RR.

It will be a bike you will enjoy & have fun on.
If stock geared go one down in front & 1 up in the rear .

    have fun, I DO .

Cool jb5371!! I'll look forward to your write-up comparison to the VFR. I considered one as well, before I bought the Viffer. Just couldn't see myself commuting or touring on it, but what a menacing looking beast she is.

After driving 425 miles each way,I was not disappointed and purchased my PRISTINE 2001 Honda RC51 very nicely equipped. Short test-ride evaluation is that this is the anti-VFR. It has an extremely rigid ride, drastic seating position, feels very short, and is an uncompromising narrowly focused track bike for the street. Similarities to the VFR include that BEAUTIFUL gear whine, UNBELIEVABLE exhaust note, TORQUE to spare, and an incredibly LINEAR throttle response with the PC,map, and gearing change. It's definitely going to take some getting used to! I LOVE IT! The RC and VFR are so different,it would only make sense to keep both. Unfortunately for me,one must go as my mobility requires MODERATION and I'm ready for something DIFFERENT(not better)!
