Having lurked on here for six months I thought I'd say hello. I bought a 6th gen back in June '13 with 18k miles on the clock. I can't say I've been disappointed with the bike but it has been a slow burning love affair.

I've moved up from owning two SV650s's. A brilliant bike but I needed something more suitable for long distance touring. Adventure bikes don't do much for me so it had to be a sports tourer.

The VFR intrigued me with its VTEC combined brakes and other novel features. I love all that stuff, the SV was quite simple by comparison.

It took a while for the VFR to grow on me after SV. I missed the V twin punch and the lightweight agility of the little bike but the VFR has many other virtues that I love such as the handling and suspension. The engine reminds me of a 2 stroke when the VTEC kicks in and always brings a silly grin to me face.

I have a trip planned to Belgium in May which should be delight on the VFR. It came with a Givi rack to which I've added a Kappa box. The long trips I've done so far have been easier than the SV. No aches or pains , just effortless.

The only mods I've made so far are blocking off the PAIR and adding a scottoiler. I also bought a seat cowl for a bargain £6 off eBay.

So excuse my ramblings. Here's to a great 2014

    John

    Welcome!
Great looking bike(too bad it's the slowest colour;))
How's the flooding in your area?

Trip to the continent sounds like a great time! The VFR is a great bike to do it on, enjoy!

Thank you Phil. As for the colour, I'd have preferred the metallic grey or better still the white, but I think the red looks great in metallic

As for the floods, Shrewsbury was slighty flooded and a couple of car parks disappeared. Others have had it far worse.

I'll post some pictures of the trip in may.

Welcome. And Congrats for the pix. I am not fond of the Honda red but I do like that metallic red for surd. Always did. Wife and I enjoyed a two week tour of GB and Ireland a few years back. Wished it was by bike but we were on a very sparsely seated motor coach. There were only about 1P of us on an executive coach. Great trip.

BTW. White is just so fooken fast!

Welcome to The World Mate! I think you're the first VFR owner I've heard say they like the stock suspension! Most of us have that 1st on the list of things to change, but it's relative to what you know I guess. If it works for you, that's what really counts anyway. Looks like an ABS model too, well, ride safe!

    Cheers!

Everything is relative as they say. Compared to the SV suspension the VFR is superb. Compliant is the word I think they use. Feels soft and comfortable but at the same time feels planted and follows a line well. In other words it feels like I'm floating along as apposed to crashing and jarring on the SV.

Yes it is the ABS model, a first for me. Not managed to lock up the wheels yet, despite some provocation. perhaps I should test it on wet grass , just to make sure its works.
