Just did a quick browse of the videos available to watch on this Isle of Man TT website. Check this link out YouTube - Steve Hislop - On-board. Are these guys totally insane or what ? How do they do this , incredible stuff.

If relay is clicking, usually means battery is weak, enough to operate relay, but not starter.

Age of battery? Check connections for corrosion, not enough charging current?

If problem persists, recommend posting thread in Mechanics Forum.

Starters require high current. Relay closes heavy duty contacts that can carry high current. Separate heavy wire from battery to starter to crank starter. One of three things: relay is bad, not passing high current; or starter motor is bad; or wiring is corroded not passing current. Need to check with volt meter to find where voltage stops.

From Google, your starter relay. Check 30 AMP Fuse, if you can get a clean shot at the terminals, try using an old screwdriver and short them out (like closing relay) if starter works, then it is the relay. Make sure no gas fumes around!

would agree about the battery; had a VFR 750 with an old battery; when it went bad the symptoms were similar to that, but I ignored the battery; ended up going thru 2 reg/rec and tracing down some burnt wires and connectors (as well as finally replacing the battery). Lesson learned.. when things start to go funny, suspect the battery from the start..
