I hope you have it disinfected before putting it up for sale after all that sick stuff you harleydoods do in that leather bar where you hang oot.

Thanks for all the responses. mostly i was bored and thinking about what to do with my bike.

I went from a cm400 - cb750- gsxr-ninja 500-vfr. Had the xr pretty much the whole time i had all the others.

Owning both a 5 and 6 Gen I found them to be pretty similar but I set them up for specific task, my '09 (6 Gen) is setup for commuting and touring, meaning better seat, Heli-bars, touring windscreen and upgraded suspension. This has helped my comfort, especially for long rides and if you were to do something similar and maybe add lowering the foot pegs, it might change the comfort level for you too. Out of all the mods I have done though, the best one so far has been modifying my suspension and then maybe the Heli-bars. Of course this means spending time and money and it still may not be what you are looking for but it may be worth a try. My '01 has stock ergos but I have modified the suspension and I use it for sport riding and to be honest, I can still ride all day without feeling I've been put on "rack", but then again I am not as tall or weigh as much (5'8"/155lbs.). Personally if spending time and money doesn't appeal to you, it might be better to sell her off and look for something more suited for you. The 5 Gens are real popular and if you're selling her for a fair price, it should sell quickly. That being said, it's a double edge sword selling during the winter time though. Good luck finding what you're after.

After reading these fine posts, lots of solid input, I would recommending attempting to mod the bike you have, how will you really know if the next bike will work for you either. You can always resell the mods? The VFR is the "devil you know" sort of thing.

You might check with Larry and see if his footpeg lowering blocks fit your year. Larry: netters2@comcast.net

Based on the original comment of you have no desire to ride it further than across town, I don't think any mods to the seating/pegs/helibars are going to help. If you could do 50 or so miles before the aches and pains, then maybe it would be worth looking into options. But sounds like within a matter of a couple miles, you're having problems.

The bike just doesn't fit you. Sell it and get something with better ergonomics for you.

By the way, I'm 6'2", about 240, got a bad back, and I can push myself for about 400 miles in a day. Only a Corbin - no heli bars or peg lower-ers. But after 400 my back says no go.

I have a 5th gen, and it's pretty stock except the Sargent seat. It's my first Sargent after owning 3 Corbin seats, and I like it loads better.
I'm 59, 5'11" and 200 pounds and I've done a few 300 mile trips on it. It'll never be as comfortable as a Gold Wing, but it'll never be as big and heavy either.
I'm installing slightly taller bars on it, and we'll see what that does to the cockpit wind. Unlike a lot of Viffer owners, I'm not crazy about the bike, but I like it well enough to keep it... for now.

You mentioned a V-Strom. That is arguably the most comfortable bike to ride out there. And a great bike, too, especially for touring. But it's 180-degrees away from a VFR.

Maybe this 5th generation VFR was built uncomfortable to ease dudes into a Harley.

I am wondering if I should remove my Windscreen, GPR Pipes and Heli-Bars before selling the bike If I indeed do decide to sell it...

From what i have found they make worth approximately zero more dollars to a buyer. I had my bike for sale a while ago and got that feedback.

Like? Love. adore, idolize, worship, are more appropriate save animal passion. Like is so like like.

From +/- 15 years down the road apiece and likely fueled by liberal dosages of Sauza Conmemorotivo,

    I love my Harley-Davidson
I love it like my life
I even love it better than I even love my wife
I love to lubricate it and grease it up real good
I'd really love to fuck it
    If I only could.

Keep in mind that this would not be possible in most instances unless the hog were to be relieved of various farkles covering up every port and orifice. Or, in a worst case scenario even having to witness any or all of those perverted rituals that your new bud VFR007 is into using not only harleydoods but real hogs of non specific genders.

Aftermarket stuff on a bike, in good condition is worth in most cases half the retail or MSRP. Here we are talking stuff like Heli-bars, Throttlemeisters, suspension goodies and not fringed footboards ,Jo-jo warmers
    and buttplugs.

So, how much are you asking for this bike or are you just talking shit?

Several years ago, I rode a friend's ST1300. A bit bigger than the VFR, but it has a wonderful rider position for doing distances. And although it looks a lot bigger, I was surprised at how nimble it felt. I was also alarmed at how quickly it had me in the triple digits! Might be worth a look.

The V-Strom, aside from it's looks (IMO), is an awesome motorcycle as well. I agree that if your feeling for the VFR are that solid, sell it and move on.

Somehow i became the shit talker.

I was asking 2500 with the bags, everything to rebuild the front end including racetech springs, and brand new tires. Bike has 33k.
