Just thought I would say "Hey" to everybody.
I am coming back to bikes after being away from riding, building and racing them over the years. I have in the last year mentioned to a couple of people that it would be fun to build a couple of early AMA Superbike replicas for street riding. I kept thinking that I really wanted to do an HRC Replica VF750F. They just have/had a sound that is amazing with a good set of pipes on them. That was as far as I got for a while and then back in August I came across a VF1000R for sale very cheap. Knowing that it could provide many of the replica pieces I would want I went to look at it. Needless to say it followed me home. "IN our Pontiac Vibe" No trailer.... I told my wife it was a good thing she didn't come with me as I had parts in the front seat as well. The bike was apart and a mess, but it hadn't been crashed, it did have all the hoses replaced with steel braided lines, it also came with a Corbin seat, a 4-1 exhaust, and a Fox remote reservoir shock. Lots of good parts for my project.

The rest of the story is for maybe another post. But needless to say I have managed to acquire a bunch of Interceptors and parts for them. Not least being a nice 4-1 Kerker exhaust for an 86 VFR.

As I looked more into my HRC project I got to see a lot of the project bikes done by other members of this forum and was very impressed with not only the pojects they did but the attention to detail that is so important to a successful build. I don't know why I have been so long in joining but I am looking forward to help with this project of mine.

I will admit to having had a partially HRC kitted VF750F in 1986. I am very excited about building this one. I do have a lot of photo's and as soon as I learn more about posting here I will try and put up some.

I sure don't expect this to be a short term build.

    :welcome:Welcome to the MadHouse Dan

It sounds like you enjoy a challenge - and it will be great to see how those parts come together in due course.

Meantime if you have a picture or two of the jigsaw puzzle then don't be shy - post it up now, if only to stop folks ragging on you! (Click the icon two to the right of the envelope - and follow the prompts.)

    Take care

Here are a couple of pics of the VF1000R stuffed into our Pontiac Vibe, and then the parts laid out on the driveway. I said it was a mess and now you see it in all its glory

    New to us.

Here is a pic of the bikes that I brought home to work both my son's and my projects.

Bringing them home really meant redoing the garage to make room. If you were to look at the picture blown up and look into the garage you would see that was no small task!

Here are a couple of pics for you all of my initial put together. Yes it did make me feel better! Now I can take it all apart and get rid of all the brackets and things that aren't needed. Fix the things that need that as well and continue to look for some of the parts I need. By the way those mufflers were the ones I had on my first VF750F way back when. They were sitting in a box with a couple of HRC parts! Man oh man were those things loud!!

You are absolutely correct. The owner didn't like the RWB paint work and wanted the bike black so he bought a couple of spray cans and painted it. At first I thought it was just the bodywork but he painted part of the swingarm (which I couldn't see until I cleaned the grease and junk off) and the seat. They had burned out a rear exhaust valve and started to fix it. Then they decided to make a project of it and took the bike apart. That is how it sat. I bought the bike for parts for my project and that is ok. It is a shame but because of that I owned it for dirt. As bad as it was I smiled all the way home with it.

Whose pipes were they, HRC? They look a lot like my Vance & Hines, but smaller cans. Yes, VERY loud too.
