I was reading around today and nih posted up on anther thread to try a product. SO I googled it and had a look see.

    http://www.lamin-x.com/

I have been looking for a like product for quite a while now. Not only for my bike, but also my truck. They advertise this product to be optically correct so I can't see these covered reducing your light by much if any. It is relatively cheap. Looks easy to install. Some colour options or even clear. You can get it pre-cut or by the roll. The rolls are a little pricey but looks like you get quite a bit.

If anyone has had personal experience with this product, by all means, pipe up and let us know what you think.

this is on a post i did earlier about getting the plastic ones (which sucked) then i did lamin-x. wasn't hard to install except the bottom wraps around so that was kinda not smooth, i was watching vids on installing carbon fiber sticker stuff and they use heat guns, probably would help w/ this install, warm it up and kinda stretch it, its rubbery and can stick, pull up, restick etc, the precut pieces were hard to get spot on so i would get the sheet and cut myself if i did it again.

also the gunsmoke is dark, it does block the light, id go lightest on bike if i did it again. What i bought:

    HN018 Honda VFR800/Interceptor (02- ) Headlight Covers
    [Headlight Color:Gunsmoke (med)]

My friend has yellow laminex on his fog lights, they turned brown from heat in about a month. I thought about getting them for the fogs on my cage, but have since changed my mind

I have clear Laminex film on the headlights on my car and a similar type film (3M clear) covering the headlights and the upper and lower cowls on my VFR. The only way you can see it is there is if you can find dirt or wax stuck to the edges of the film. I also have some on the fog lights on my car and they did go brown after a while. The installer mentioned that if the bulbs on the vehicle are too close to the headlight lens then the film can turn brown from the heat. I've had no issue with the film on the headlights on either the bike or the car and both have been on there for at least 5 years.

The guy who installed the film on my car mentioned that cars with projector style headlights can have more issue with heat if the end of the projector comes close to the back of headlight plastic. Fog lights on vehicles seem to be particularly prone to turning brown as most of them have the bulbs fairly close to the lens and thus they generate a lot of heat in a small area.

So glad you posted up photos. That top look is exactly what I was looking for. I take it the top photo is the gun smoke? Seeing as my bike is white, I think that would look just so bad ass. Usually I am not that kind of guy.

They also offer a shade called Charcoal but I guess that would be intensely dark. I have HID lights on the truck and bike, so it can stand to have some reduction in light. As it is, they are bright enough to light up the space station on a totally overcast day and make it shine.

I want to do the tail and signals on both vehicles too but I am going to have to see what I need as far as brighter L.E.D. bulbs if there is a reduction in the light emitted.
