Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could help me troubleshoot...

My 2007 VFR/800 running rear lights (both the brake and flashers) do not illuminate. In addition to this, the brake light does not come on when I apply the brakes. The turn signals do flash though, when I apply the signal...?

    Fuse?

Re: I can`t seem to find the Fuse Boxes.. for my VFR800 ABS
its on the left front side upper cowl panel under the wind screen. the non-abs model is on the right side. if your sitting on the bike it is the top piece of your front cowl fairing(color matched not black). You will need to remove the bolts and then pry/slide out the tab. The fuse box is right below it.

The first thing I'd try is to apply the front brake lever and see if the brakes come on. Then do the same with the rear brake pedal. I had the same problem with my front brake lever switch. The switch is not uncommon to fail and I got another one from ebay for $10. My point is that your fuses may be okay. With regards to your running lights, see if the bulb is blown first.

    Hmm

This may be complicated because of the use of different terminology this side of the pond. If I am following your post correctly at the rear of your bike - your turn signals indicate correctly, but other lamps - brake and running lights don't work. As they all share the same earthing point that probably rules out poor earthing.

Does the license plate illumination bulb work OK?

Yes it could be a fuse but the first thing I would check is to see if you have blown bulbs, also check the connection to the loom under the seat at the rear of the bike has not come undone.

If it helps a typical wiring diagram is attached here

Again I am not sure European and US models are the same as my VFR has two fuse boxes on the left mostly stuff for the ABS and on the right the standard fuses. These are hidden below those weird shaped body coloured infill panels at either end of the instruments.

It is also worth checking to see if the brake light illuminates when you apply the rear brake pedal, and again with the front brake lever. If one works and the other does not then the problem lies upstream - so may mean one or other component is defective or the connections have worked loose.
One final worrying possibility - especially if other bulbs - eg headlights have also failed - is your RR has died and could be dumping 60+ volts into the loom and killing the battery and/or stator. If multiple bulbs are out then this is where to go next... http://vfrworld.com/forums/showthre...lator-Stator-failures?highlight=rubo+charging But fingers crossed that is not relevant.

Hope that helps - let us know how you get on.
