no first or second gear starting out in 3rd is pretty hard on the bike

hey guys i have a 83 VF750 C. i got the bike for $400 so i obviously have some problems with it lol. the main thing is that it pops out of both first and second gears. 3rd-6th all work fine. i was wondering if anyone had any advice that would help me in fixing this? thanks in advance

Sounds like a damaged shiftfork for gear 1+2

 

That's what I was thinking too. thanks for the advice...looks like I get to split my engine fun fun.

 

It's old and obviously tired and you haven't checked for damaged cams yet and no one would blame you if you did the most sensible thing.........get rid of it and find something newer. :sentimental: It's far from a model that represents the legendary Honda quality.
