evenin  i have an issue with a neutral light on a 1988 750. yesterday i got to see my girlfriends vfr and she wanted me to have a look at it for her to make sure all was well. we took the fairin off and discovered that the starter solenoid plug looked like it had been chewed on by rats and had several very dodgey repairs in the past so we decided to fix it with spade terminals as the plug was past its best years ago. all fixed and workin fine until she noticed the neutral light switch was actin odd. unless you pull on the clutch the neutral light wont come on even if its in neutral ? ive looked at the wiring diagram and can see its a simple circuit but still cant work out what weve done. can anyone tell me whats gone wrong ? im a mechanic by trade so nothin has been bodged its all done properly just not with a genuine plug.

    cheers

    ||^^|| Agree with MPH. You can easily test the health of the diode with a multimeter.

Diodes pass DC in one direction. Meter should have a diode checker setting, basically a "short" in one direction and "open" in the other, no resistance values.
