I've been wanting to powder coat my rims for a while now but I had mixed feelings. The stock wheels on the Anniversary Edition actually has a pretty unique finish. In direct light it is more dark charcoal with a satin crinkle finish. In shade it looks like flat black. However, OOTV recently gave me an offer for an 8-spoke wheel that he purchased from Ebay that I simply could not refuse! Thanks OOTV! So, I went ahead full steam.

Here's the before picture--I put red reflective tape on the rim portion:

BTW, many thanks to OOTV for also helping me remove and install the front wheel bearings in preparation for the powder coat job. He also helped with my tire installation.

Nice. That OEM colour on the RWB is great for hiding brake dust. Chain oil too.

I have my moments...those rims really came out nice! I'm sure Randy is speaking from experience, white rims don't hide the brake dust and chain lube as well as the stock color!

Since I got mine powdered white, they have never gotten dirty cause they are cleaned after every long ride now. But I should get over that phobia before long.

Don't use your rear brake and they stay reall clean. Can't tawk from experience regarding a white wheel though, would have to live in the "Great-White-North for that."

When you have linked brakes, you can avoid your rear brake all you want but you still get the rear brake dust. I do use the rear brake pedal but that is rarely.

Looks great (me jealous). I must be getting short term memory loss, the last time we all got together for a ride I really don't remember you having a RWB. Must be all the drugs back in the 70's and 80's

LOL! Duccmann, I think it's because every time we go I bring the Buell. So it's entirely possible you've never seen my RWB.

Damn! These wheels must be made out of gold because they go for a good price even when blemished!

It's funny when they specify no stripped threads. It has no threads for the lug nuts.

The OEM color does do a GREAT job of hiding brake dust, road grime, chain lube, and everything else. After a while it starts to look flat black too! But when it's clean and it bright light the actual color is a very dark grey. It really is handsome but you must look closely to notice it. Otherwise it just "disappears" with the rest of the bike.

I had the 8-spoke powder coated Anthracite in semi-gloss. So it's closer to grey than black.

Unfortunately no. The 7th gen VFR1200 uses a 5 bolt wheel whereas the 3rd thru 6th gens use a 4 bolt.
