so in my winter depression i started buying some odds and ends, found these power bronze lens covers, thought sure, those would make bike look nice and maybe save me a $300 headlight lens someday.

This is how they attach, both have sticky on back, one to bike, one to cover and the lil feet mesh up and hold it on.

this is what you see on bike, the sticky squares are so blatant it looks really really bad.

here is pic from their web site, can see feet, never noticed.

Any suggestions on how to put these covers over headlights with something other than their sticky squares? I don't want to glue them permanent, was thinking maybe a slim strip of double side tape? I think the darker covers you wouldn't notice the sticky squares so much, these are light tint. Also the squares together are about 1/8" off the headlight, creates a space. pretty disappointed these look so bad, any way to save my $27 and get them on bike?

Any better suggestions for tinted lens protector?

opened and stickies used, doubt i can return, just $30 whatever, i found some tape thats 8mm width but i think it will still look like crap with the light smoke power bronze.

lamin-x looks decent, looks like its kinda that thick rubbery material, we'll see, if its sucks, nother 20 down the drain and i'll concede. wondering if lil nicks will show w/ lamin-x though, bikes 03 w/ 37k, couple lil nicks and scratches on them now.

I put these on xmas list, going tint trifecta, signals/headlights/windscrenen, nobody looks at my front turn signals anyway right :) so far im 2 for 3, pegs were ok, levers were ok, lens covers were crap.

I have used the Lamin X film to protect the glass fog light lenses on my wife's Tahoe. Since they are low to the ground and are subject to a lot of flying rocks during the winter I wanted something a bit thicker than the standard 3M vinyl. Going on 5 years now and the lenses have yet to suffer any damage.

If you apply them to the lens covers on your bike, a good idea would be to remove the headlight housing form the fairing and then apply. This makes it easier to trim around the edges of the headlight when you install. It looks as if you can also get the product with a slight tint if you want and some varying thicknesses. The stuff I used on my wife's Tahoe seems to be nearly 1/16" thick.

What you have can be attached using Velco. The marine grade used to attach heavy objects to bulkheads is a brown color.

The 3M film is clear aka waterwhite. It is, I think 8mils thick. Many shops that provide applications for cars have it in stock. It will not protect your bike from hitting a moose head on but for rocks and small roadkill it's great. Best used on the lower shroud on a faired bike. If by chance there is a 3M distributor in the area they might sell you some.

Best bet IMO for headlight module protections is here:

I have had one on the mach 1 91 for over 15 years. Yep, the same one.. Changed out the Velcro a couple of time. They may seem a tad pricy but compare the price with a replacement module and the labor to fixt the thing and there is not much need to crunch the numbers much further.

so put lamin-x ones on today, the headlight lens wraps under so it was kinda hard since the precut piece doesnt seem to be the right size, so its not 100% beauty underneath but visible parts went on smooth. it kinda looks wavy in pics but its solid on both lens and around the bottom curve, under that curve there is too much laminx for the lens, just made a lil slit to make it flush under.

it took me a bit of time, you can peel it up and try again over and over, there are tabs to hold that i cut off, came w/ a squeegee, squirt bottle and lil knife, used distilled water. i only had to cut the tabs, it was right size, you can buy a big piece and cut it all yourself also.

it seems pretty durable, its really rubbery material, we'll see if it gets pitted or flys off, for $20 though could replace every year no biggie.

lights seemed fine /w it on, maybe a pink tint though, will have to see outside, might just be the garage lighting.

    yes windshields off.

    one done.
