I've got a "go to" tire brand for each one of my bikes but being a VF noob I am not sure what's the best tire for my 750. I wouldn't mind slapping on the original ones that came with it from the factory for originality but I know that's probably not possible.

What's everyone running now a days?

When I had my 84 Interceptor back in 84 I always used Metzlers---hated Dunlops on that bike. JMO

Metzlers On both my 84 VF750F and My KZ900 LTD. I've had no problems on either bike.
Feel is good and what little rain I've driven in they seemed to work well. Although I did
    find them a little pricey.

Just put Bridgestone BT45s on an 84 VF750 and am very happy so far. Pirelli Sport Demons on one of my VF1000Rs that I like as well. I chose the BTs because that bike may be in the rain and they have a good pattern and compound for that.

The PO of my '83, who owned the bike for nearly 30 years and 68K miles, said Conti Go is the best tire he's ever used on it. He's been through several sets of tires and as a pro mechanic really knows the bike, so I'll call him an expert.

I always forget to look at the Conti's. I think I'll try them on my next build.

I'm running Metzlers on my CB and I also had them on my Thruxton. Conti's treated me good when I had them on my BMW GS. I'm running Avon's now on my Thruxton and loving them and you can't beat the price. Oh decisions, decisions...

Dunlop and Bridgestone are the only two worth buying. That said, everything available for the stock wheels are going to be bias ply - which are not going to compare with modern tires.

"Keeping expectations low seldom leads to disappointment.". So true.

The Avon website does not specify these as radial tires (certainly they will not be steel belted, at least I hope not). It is important to be watchful of marketing deceptive terms such as "radial bias", those are not true radial tires. The safe bet is if you want good tires you'll need different size wheels.

I run Avon Roadmasters. Sticky, cheaper, decent life. There was write up a few years ago that is out there - somewhere. These tires tested better than much more high dollar ones.

But... even more important that which tire you should use... Is it ok to use regular car oil in my motorcycle??? :potstir:

I've been pretty happy with set on my Thruxton and they are a nice bang for the buck. For the amount of use this bike will see I think they're appropriate.

ive got some very outdated bridgestones on my vf, the front is great in the wet and dry (it was actually mounted backwards and badly balanced when i got it), but the rear is the wrong size and type and ive not bothered changing it, its slippy in the wet and tends to spin up if i try and ride hard.
interesting fact, in the uk (im english) the bridgestones use a different compound to here in norway, the uk spec tyres cant be used below 0 celcius.

Metzlers were the hot tire for my 83 VF750, loved them.
