I fitted a set of GB Moto bar risers to my 97 vfr because I was getting aching wrists after a while .. They have made quite a difference. I was wondering how much better a set of helibars would be compared to the risers. Helibars are quite expensive, do they offer much more comfort over ordinary risers... Would be interested in opinions from people who have used both. I still get a bit of aching and would upgrade to some helibars if they made much of a difference...
Not sure what the rise and offset are on the 97 Heli-Bars are, but the ones for the 6 Gen are 1.25" and 1.50" respectively. It's been a long time since I have ridden with the stock bars so commenting on that would be hard, but I can say that the difference was really felt on long rides. Since I use my 6 Gen for commuting/touring I have to say that the difference was felt immediately and that long distance comfort is much better than stock. If you would like to see what the changes do to your riding posture, check out this website http://cycle-ergo.com/. Just put in the info and it will show you the differences between stock and modified. Here's what I put in for my '09 with Heli-bars. Cheers!
