I didn't want to keep taking my rack off every time I used the cowling, so I cut it with a dremel.
It was easy but I went very slow. I first covered the area with tape and then marked and cut a bit a a time.
Don't try to take off too much first go, you can always take more off, you can't put it back.

Looks nice and clean. I would have liked to do the same with my Givi rack but it mounts both there and to the front where the seat cowl attaches so I'm out of luck.

Did the same with mine. SLOvfr found a spare cowl for me so I have one for the top case rack and one for the stock sporty look.
It is super convenient to have the rack in place all the time.

Looks a lot cleaner than the hack job I did, nice work.

@vfrkat, why wouldn't this work with the newer style Givi rack?

A bit unrelated but here it is, the first picture was when it was 3 weeks old.
The next one with around 35.000ks a couple of years later before I traded it in on a GPz900R
