I am curious if there is any interest in the VFR 1200 community in a performance based supplier that would provide in-house dyno tested performance parts and performance packages that would, where applicable, provide custom PC5 maps for the application. This would be a US based supplier with a long record in the high performance business and a reputation for excellent tech support & customer service.

I am not talking about internal engine high performance parts but bolt on parts like slip on's, full performance exhaust systems, low restriction air filters, PC5's with pre loaded custom maps for the parts combination you order and possibly re-flashed ECU's with the 1st & 2nd gear restriction removed as well as the top speed limiter removed.

A full system probably won't happen but I do have a connection in the high performance distribution business who does serious motorcycle exhaust system volume that is inquiring with several of his overseas suppliers. Nothing ventured nothing gained. For sure if there is not much interest from the VFR community, no mfg is going to invest the R&D and other up front cost in producing a system there is minimal demand for.

The same connection hooked me up with Don Guhl of Guhl Motors. Don Guhl specializes in ECU re-flashes for both motorcycles and the auto racing community. Don has my 2013 ECU and has been able to read the internal Honda ECU code which was the first step in developing a re-flash to remove the restrictions. Before proceeding any further Don Guhl needs another ECU from a 2010 or 2011 VFR 1200F (honda pt # 38770-MGE-773) to evaluate the changes Honda made between the 1st & 2nd gen ECU's. He would like to find someone in the PA. area to lend him a ECU so he can read the code in the 2010, 2011 ECU. Don is located at Guhl Motors, 4126 Oregon Pike, Ephrata PA 17522. If you can help he can be reached by e mail at Don Guhl<sales@guhlmotors.com>

Removing the 1st/2nd/6th gear restrictions on the DCT would be great.

The standard trans models will come first because there are more of them. Like the standard VFR 1200F there are two seperate DCT model ECU's (one for the first year & a second for the 2012/2013). Guhl needs a 2010/2011 ECU for the standard shift VFR12 first to read the internal code. If there is enough demand I am sure he will move on to the DCT ECU's. You can contact him directly if you want to.

The only way this is going to happen is if there is enough interest. It will only happen as a re-flash for the stock Honda ECU's and it is going to take a aftermarket performance company that specalises in electronics like Guhl Automotive. Honda is not going to fix the ECU code restrictions you don't like.

If you are seriously interested is seeing a fix for the stock Honda ECU restrictions e mail Don Guhl and express an interest in seeing a solution to the problem. List which VFR 1200 model you own & what you would like to see changed. There has to be enough interest and demand to justify the R&D cost. I went to Guhl because I have used them for my Kawasaki ZX 14 ECU's and I know Don Guhl does a lot of this kind of ECU work on both sport & dirt bikes.
