A model human being. He transcended his emotional nature and personal desires for the greater good. Remarkable in every way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"We Believe That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life; That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations; That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise; That government should be of laws rather than of men; That earth's great treasure lies in human personality; And that service to humanity is the best work of life." The above creed is the Jaycee Creed. In the years he could have been a Jaycee, I think he was imprisoned. But he appears to have lived this creed all his life. He was also the first non head of state, to ever address our Parliament here in Canada. In 1998 he received the Companion of the Order of Canada, the highest award Canada bestows on a person. During his last visit here in 2001, he became one of only five people who have been made honorary Canadian Citizens, him being the second and first living ever. His presence with mankind made a difference, a positive one. "With the flick of his wrist, Nelson Mandela could have triggered revolution and his country would be in flames. He did not. He did the opposite." Joe Clark, statesman and former Prime Minister of Canada.
My daughter heard about his death on the radio while we were driving in the car. I had the pleasure of explaining how he lived his life. I could sense that this realy touched her and how it will probably contribute her out look on life. It is amazing that in his death he will continue to inspire. RIP
He fr0rgave, but i'd like t0 see FwDeclerk and Pik B0tha serve in l0ckup abu0t 2 years each just t0 see and FEEL what he had t0 endure. I don't feel that would be in any way unjust. Great man and great example 0f service t0 his pe0ple. D0n't f0rget that during sancti0ns, Israel was secretly supplying the racist SA regime with nuclear technology, military arms including cr0wd-c0ntr0ll equipment (the same machinery they were using to oppress Palestinians), and 0ther sanctin0ns-busting financing, m0st likely with US kn0wledge and c00perati0n. A shameful scandal whose story hasn't yet been told.
Are ya'll being sarcastic in your praise of this terrorist. Please read up on his history before you repeat what you hear in the TV news. He sure as helll wasn't jailed for speaking for equality.
I am a white African. The first 16 years ( not completely true, I went to a South African boarding school when I was 12) of my life were spent in Zambia where I was fed anti South Africa propaganda. The remainder has been spent in South Africa where I received both anti black rule (pre '94) and anti white rule (post '94) propaganda. I found myself one night explaining to my young daughter how in the apartheid days, her mixed race friend would not have been allowed to live next door to her, attend the same schools as her ect purely due to the colour of her skin. Naturally she could not comprehend this. Yes, Nelson Mandela was not jailed for speaking for equality, but the lack of equality (and freedom of speech, I remember the Time and Newsweek magazines of the '80's with entire articles blacked out) was what led him to commit the acts he did. Furthermore (as per Randy's quote), once released he had it in his power to plunge this country into civil war with just a word. He didn't, and that is what has earned him the praise he has deservedly received since his passing. Am I a bleeding heart liberal in love with the "New South Africa"? Not at all, we still have terrible problems with crime, poverty, corruption ect (said daughter has been the victim of a home invasion, and her car was stolen last night ). But It is my country, and I am grateful that we had Nelson Mandela.
My understanding with the way it was over there, this type of apartheid mentality did not just apply to Blacks. It applied to everyone who was not white. I have two of the most wonderful kids, given to me by a great woman who does not share the colour of my skin. Our union back in 1986, though not a new concept, was not really familiar either. We demonstrated to our families and many people close to us, why they should overcame their ignorance when it came to racial matters. Thank God my wife and I lived in Canada when this meeting of souls took place. We are not going to eliminate racial discrimination. It will always be there. We can only do our own small parts to ensure this is not a systematic way of life. We are not there yet.
I would put it differently by saying, there are more than two of us.. I wonder what Mandela would think of Kanye? The prez called him a jerk...
So was George F*in Washington ! Surveys always find that standards of education are the lowest of all our states in Mississippi, and i think this proves it !! Mississippi, KKK terror-a-tory, just like your damn racist whisky-drinkin grampa wuz, and you say KKK wasn't TERROR, ya dumb cracka !! You' seem an ignorant :bs: and know zero of the wider world. If I was treated as badly by the Dutch or anyone, rest assured terrorist would be the nicest thing you would be calling me.
