1996 vfr - the manual says i can use 86 but on the bike it says 91 - which is correct? also - checked with voltmeter - around 12.35 when idling but up to 14.3 when revved about 4 - that sound right?

Use standard 87. No need for premium, unless you like throwing money away.

Voltage looks fine at 4k, looks a tad low for idle, i think around 13 or so is normal. Could be wrong though.

Disagree in the case of the VFR. I get 36mpg on regular and 42mpg on premium. When considering the price difference, it's a 6% net gain to use the premium.

I do not notice any difference in performance with the seat-o-the-pants dynomometer.

I use non-ethanol in my 91 and its rated at 90 octane. I get better mileage with low-test on my EX500, but use high-test as its always wide open and probably runs cooler with the better octane rating.

Non ethanol gas does'nt stink like the regular stuff down here. Use it in my weedie-eaters too with no degregation of rubber primer bulbs and stuff...

Octane doesn't matter as long as you use slick 50.
